I just picked up the Green Bonnie and want to go a different direction than the opal /tang (brown seat, brown city bags and tank bag etc.)
Anybody have the Triumph solo seat/chrome rack setup? Like it? I'm assuming it nixes the classic grab rail since it uses the same mounts and wouldn't look good together anyway.
I'm thinking of a darker "gentleman" theme. I also have a stock cam cover and am thinking of a dark green paint or powder coat...
Always appreciate the input from the best bunch of riders in the world (that would be you guys!)

I like my solo seat, found it more comfortable than the stock seat on my Scrambler. The plastic under the rack is a bit cheesy but I have grown used to it in 9,000 miles.

I like the idea of a "gentleman" theme, and think I know where you're going.

The solo seat and rack I would think have two major drawbacks; one, it only comes in black, and two, solo, i'e. no passenger possibility. How can you be a "gentleman" without a partner to be gentlemenly to??

Seriously - how about Corbin, as they can provide any color seat you wish. The style - gunfighter, solo, etc, I think might go well with the theme.

On the down side of Corbin... no luggage rack.

I am also going to be putting the solo seat/rack on my Bonnie does anyone know how you would attach bags with this set-up?

My opal/ tang is set up for two...with the brown theme...the green will be just for yours truly with a "darker theme" but still a gentleman's (read old man's) ride. e.g. I just installed a flat black, unadorned, plain, metal, license plate frame, and a small, black, kid leather, tank bag. Also small black leather panniers (not the Trumpy city bags)
Thought the solo seat/rack deal from Triumph would work with the theme but now I'm worried about Pig's comment about the plastic sub cowl looking "cheesy"
...Billy

I have the "Sixty8" version of solo seat with rack. Very nice seat, the comfort is there, and the rack is useful. As for "cheesy" it's shiny hard plastic in the rear-looks OK to me.

Now THAT would be very cool. Match the cases and it would look great. Figured I'd get to that this winter-but for now it's fine. If you do it-PICS!

Here in Thailand the gals ride side-saddle!

Will be having a rack fanny-pad [RFP - TM] made for the lasses when I ride into town.
No need to encumber luggage by including them on the journey as well! :-D

But on a more serious point the solo seat small rack is flawed by not fixing to the subframe.

As a consequence the two seatbolts rattled free recently, and I had to strap bags to the shocks.
Now I have had two bars welded across the subframe with bolts going in beneath the guard with rubber insulating grommits.
Oh and I have had a larger rack made for longer journeys.
Here's a pic of the bike loaded after the loss of bolts but before changes.
