Yesterday I was riding and on three occasions my Scrambler just up and died. twice while I was riding at a good speed and once at a stop sign. Started sputtering and then slowed to a stop. The last time I wasn't able to start the engine at all for a few minuets, and then it started "no problem". Think it's the battery? Just had new wires and plugs put in a few months back. Feels like something is stuck in the pilot jet, but then again it shouldn't go dead like a dead battery. Whadaya think?

Any chance your gas tank vent line is clogged? Easy to diagnose. Next time it dies, take the gas cap off and see if it starts right up. If so, there is either a bit of a clog in the end of the vent line or the one way valve is broken. No big deal either.

Could be lots of other stuff but I like to check the easy things first.

ridden in the rain lately, or washed the bike?

Could be a wet ignitor. The fix for that is to pull the seat, disconnect the ignitor and slather all connections with dielectric grease.

Check the ground post on your battery, mine was hitting the bottom of my seat and broke off. I reattached it with new connectors and end of problem.
