Got a small oil leak, bottom of the bike on the left side, where the clutch case is connectedd to the sump (at least thats where i think it is) on the seal, above the bolt where the cluth and sump meet.

Not a huge spill, but not something you would expect on a bike under 2000km. Then again maybe my Bonnie is more 'old school' and will leak all over the place

any ideas if this is common? calling dealer first thing monday should be able to sort it out under warrenty.

But while its strange, it could leak gallons and i would still love this bike!

How many miles on the bike? Is it brand new?
If so, it could be cosmolene dripping off. Clean things up, give it a bit to see what's going on.

i agree I was a leak -freek when I 1st got her. Remember the old days w/ the 65 Bonne. All said wait 6 mo or so & see if the cosmoline finishes melting down. I did & it did. There is still some residue there after 2++ yrs. It doesnt melt down anymorwe tho. If after some time she is still leakin- back to the shop! All I know w/ Bonne's went thru the samething. The old reputATION FOLLOWED THE BIKWE! They were so known t oleak - all are lookin for them now. Mine doesnt leak a drop. Lubed the chain today after 600 mi,. The bike is in a garage w/ a painted floor. Mine & my buds have never dropped A DROP yet (after cosmoline). Good luck!

i rang my service agent about an oil leak and getting it fixed, never heard back from them so just re-tensioned the bolts in the affected area and seems to have cured the problem. But haven't been too impressed by service full stop for this Brand but that is a dealer issue.

Got to say i hear alot of Australian riders are under satasfied with dealers and dealer services, though i imagine we Triumph riders ahve very high standerds! and so we should.

What is cosmoline? a rust preventer? what is the general color of it? the bike is about 4 months old (2000 km, not sure what that is in miles) It does seem like oil, and from the position (the sump/clutchcase join) my first thought was that it must be oil. Will give it a good clean up and see.

Might also try a torque wrench on the bols to see what happens.

We're all calling it cosmolene, which is the name for a 1940's rust inhibitor used for storing/shipping guns, etc. Let's hope they're using something more advanced for that trip across the pond .. or in your case... jeeze, how DID that bike get to Austrailia!? Oh, Thailand is close (wink).
It's a .. yuk kind of color and burns off more that it drips. That 'new bike' smell.
Go easy with the tightening ...'first do no harm'.

good call merlin.

This fluid is dark, oil type color and i have not notced any melting anywhere else so the location of this drip has got me worried, but might give it a clean, a few days and a few rides and see what happens.

My T100 developed an oil leak at 4000 miles. Not much of a leak, left a spot a little bigger that an silver dollar. Turned out to be a clutch gasket? (so I was told), dealer fixed under warranty.

Ben, had the same leak on my 04. I think my dealer replaced the gasket under warranty, or I just ignored it and it went away. :-D

Shame you missed the ride today, about 35 bikes, good roads, good company, good times had by all.

expect a leak on the rocker cover, at the back of the engine below the rocker cover and next to the clutch.
It is the responsibility of the dealer to fix this and shame them if they do not have the parts.
If they do not have the gaskets for this I am sure there are some sites you can order them and then give the details to the stealer.
Don't waste your time complaining to Triumph's head office.
