Has anyone installed a steering stabilizer? Did it make a difference?

Sometimes it feels like the front end is a little light and gets a small wobble when I cross a crack in the road, etc.

A number of people have installed a steering dampner - they cost a penny or two so I've not gone there. I did have one scary experience that indicated they might be a good idea. At about 75mph at night I didn't know that only one lane had been repaved and was an inch or two higher. As I came off it I almost got into a tank slapper. A scared biker with two suddenly strong arms seems to be a very effective dampner, thought there is something to be said for prevention.

I've had a couple of scary headshakes myself...I'm thinking of putting one on both bikes.
All advice welcome...

The Norman Hyde damper works for me.

+1... in combination with progressive springs in front, hagons on the back
& metzler Lasertechs, the handling on mine is exactly where I want it - compliant, comfortable, & confident... likewise, if the bike remains stable going through a bumpy sweeper - tires in contact with the pavement throughout (no pitching or pogo-ing), suspension doing what it's supposed to do - it's set up right...

Cheers,

D9

I installed a Norman Hyde Damper and like the solid feel of the front end.

I have a Bella Corse dampner. although my Thrux has never done anything evil, it does give me a lot more confidence that the bike will be planted. This is important in sorting out the suspension set up.
Plus, I just don't see any down side, other than initial expense.
