Has anyone on the Group taken any of the Hinckley bikes up to this sort of mileage yet ( or beyond) & if so, how do the bikes hold up. One of the reasons the bikes seem to hold their value so well in the Uk is that they almost always come to the market with pretty, if not very low mileage. ie. 5 - 6 year old bikes with 10k or less on the clock, or newer, with 2-3k. Given my inclination to look for an older bike to go with the new one, corrosion of the alloy/lacquer engine casings aside, it would be interesting to hear the experiences of anyone who has put the mechanics of the bike to the test over a longer / higher mileage period

High mileage Bonnies are definitely out there. I remember seeing a similar post last summer and was surprised to see quite a few 50k+'ers posting.

I'll let you know how mine does in a couple years.

I got my bike new in April 04. I've put 63,000kms (45,000+ miles) on her so far. I ride mainly on weekends, I've done one inter state trip doing approx. 2,500kms In 3 days with nil mechanical Issues. All of my lacquered/alloy/painted finishes are good with no Corrosion. The longest period of not riding my bike was 6 months due to a broken leg late last year, otherwise I'd have another 10 thousand +k's on the clock.

Repairs to date are, left side engine cover gasket (minor oil leak), Replaced clutch cable at about 40,000k's. Gotta be happy with that!!! :-D

Not quite 30 yet, but I just returned from a trip to Panama and back on one, 22K in a year with zero issues on a T100, replaced back tire twice, brakes chain and sprockets recently, oil changes every 4k. Were lots of 4-500 mile days in the hot climate but the bike never seemed to complain, at least not as much as my **s did....... so far I swear by them.

I'm right behind ozbon, 62500 kms so far, mostly commuting but some longer trips also.
Only problems I've encountered are oil leaks from both engine covers (gaskets had been sucked inwards) and around the cam cover. Never had to top up oil though.

Also had a problem with brake fluid leaking from the front master cylinder (just started doing it again!) I had to sand down the cover to seal it better.
I do have the dreaded corrosion on my engine covers and also on the front wheel hub, I plan to remove the clearcoat and polish them soon.

Other than that it's been very reliable and I'm very happy with it :-D

Cheers all.....good to know. Speaking as someone who has only managed 86 miles in over a week, including 60 getting it home ! I can hardly speak !! but the "majority" of Uk bikes which are up for sale have hardly been used. It's rare to see them in double figure mileage, let alone pushing through 10's of 1000's. Some of that, inevitably, unlike the States & Oz, is down to the fact that places are closer, but the maion reason seems to be that they are Sunday morning posing aboiut biles ( not that there is anything wrong with that !!), but I'm wanting to drop a car, so am interested in how things are going to shape up if I'm doing 10k a year.
There was some interesting comment on bike useage in some of the press recently, concerning the fact that dealers only expect bikes to be doing about 3 - 5k a year to hold their residual values. Any more than that & they play up when owners try to trade them in. Now a fashion statement /accessory & no longer a working mans main mode of transport.

got my t100 nov 2003 67851 miles so far very few problems
I looked into getting a 07 but dealer only offered £1000 uk sterling because of mileage apparently it should only have 12k on it to be average miles

2001 model with 28,900 so far. New brake pads at 20K, still on the original chain. Corrosion protection appears to be good on the engine and painted surfaces. Rims will rust without care and various nuts and bolts need oiling. Sound engine with the common oil leak from the valve cover. I experienced a total failure of the ECU and later replaced the ignition coil. Otherwise the Bonneville appears sound and I look for plenty of miles yet.
