Sounds to me like the carbs are out of sync.

Mine started doing the same think a while asgo. I pulled & resealed the rubber boots. Runs fine now. It also wouldnt idle worth a s*** till it really got hot. Those boots taske a lot of heat & can leak w/o knnowing it. As said check the carb boot clamps as WELL! & good luck. :???: :hammer:

Give it the dealer, it's still under warranty.

that's Rolling Rock for you boys
Sadly, Rolling Rock was bought out and is no longer brewed in Latrobe. There are lots of other good PA beers though.

I’m sorry that I don’t have any solutions that haven’t already been suggested, but I REALLY want to know the answer to this brain teaser.

One other possibility,

Check the throttle position sensor, the black plug thing on the right side of the carbs. Make sure it's connected or the ignition module will default to wide open throttle ignition advance settings.

-edit-

Thinking about it, it would make it run and idle rough, which you say it doesn't, so maybe it's not the TPS.

Check the cables going to the carburetors.
If one is longer than the other, it would mean that one cylinder is working harder than the other and the bike would virtually be running on one cylinder.
The more throttle you give, the greater the vibration.
At an idle it would appear to be running perfectly.

Cheers for all the replies fellas, it definitely doesn't seem to be something obvious though. I tried to rule out all the obvious things already. As soon as it started doing this last weekend the first thing I did was hook up the ol' mercury gauge and check the carbs. They were only off by a couple of graduations on the scale but I tweaked it back into line anyway. No change.
Then I checked the plugs and they were both looking pretty good. Nice chocolate brown, and firing.
If this were an older bike acting this way, I would be looking to check/adjust the timing because that would help explain both the knocking and poor fuel economy. Not sure if that would cause the vibration. Unfortunately it's an electronic ignition which I really know nothing about. As far as I know there is nothing to adjust. Is the crank pickup adjustable? could that have loostned up and be causing my problems??
I will look at the Carb boots for any leaks, but you guys said that you had trouble idling when you had leaky boots. Mine is idling beautifully. It just fires right up and purrs right along. Till the rpm's start to climb that is and the vibration kicks in.
It is still under warranty so I will just take it to the dealer when I get a chance, but that wont be till saturday because they're 2 hours away and it takes half a day to truck the bike up there. It also means I'll be missing out on my bike for at least a week or two. If it needs any parts that could be even longer. I'll keep trying to figure it out on my own for the rest of the week.
