Please everyone take the time to check your equipment - bike and clothing - before setting out on a ride. Yesterday, I was buzzing along at about 70 mph when my Helmet Visor almost flew off!
It is a fairly new (4 months old), very good quality helmet - full face. No need to mention brand name, as I do not want to put them down. The left side plastic visor hold-down and screw worked loose, and when they did, the visor kind of flipped up and over to the still attached side, fluttering in the wind. Kind of scary.
I was able to pull over to the side of the road, and see what was going on. Having no tools (!) the only thing I could improvise with - to unfasten the other side and take the visor completely off - was my jeans zipper pull. It worked!
This was on a Sunday morning, when most decent folk are heading for their respective places of worship.
Later, I tried to imagine a scene in a passing mini-van:
Son: "Daddy, what's that man doing to his helmet?"
Father: "Look away Son, those are the type of people we are praying for!"
In all seriousness; Check all your stuff for loose fasteners, screws, etc. Thankfully, this didn't turn out to be anything horrible, but under other circumstances, it could have!

Funny, not your shield problem but the scenario of being seen in a compromising situation with your helmet. :-D

Haha! I wish there was a photo of your tryst. Brilliantly improvised, nonetheless!

To all,
As a closing to this, a few comments:
1.) Z1R does not have a telephone number on their website, so you cannot speak to a human being.
2.) They - Z1R - do have a "contact us" Email, which I used to send a message, but they never responded.
3.) Needing my helmet, I contacted the Motorcycle Superstore - they have an actual phone number, and you are allowed to speak to an actual person! The Lady was great, supurb service, sent the parts overnight and I was back on the road.
Negative on Z1R after Sales Service (?)
Very Positive +++ on Motorcycle Superstore.
Final note - I now check all my equipment and stuff before I leave for a ride, and I've assembled a small toolkit.
