Ah yeah, Ado reminded me--the last thing to remember is beer. Beer is very important to this project--and stay away from coffee for awhile before you start on it. I used two beers for the last seat, but then I wasn't going riding afterward. I think I only used one beer for the first seat I did, but I was a year younger then.

After reading this post I went and bought a silver Sharpie and did my seat, as you can see it now echoes the back of my jacket. $1.95 mod.

As others have said, get a good gold leaf pen the higher the gold content the better as the leafing will be more supple and less likely to crack, have a drink to steady the hand, then take tour time.

Well, I've done it.....Uk available Zig 'Painty' paint pen in silver.

Came out ok....but realised having done it that our seats (Uk) appear to be different to yours ?? :???:

Virtually all 'your'seats appear to have the 'T' 'R' 'I'...etc letters 'ridged' inside the impressed logo ?? I can't imagine they're all "aftermarket" seats ??

My Uk '07 bike hasn't got that so doesn't lend itself to 'edging' or picking out in different colours (not that they'd got Orange anyway).

Overall effect is fine / pleasing & what I'd hoped for but yours are 'nicer' in my humble & honest opinion.

My bike has the stock seat and was sold new in Norway. It also has the "ridged and impressed"-logo. Haven't colored it yet, but probably will (white in with gold pinstriping to match the tank).

Nicely done, Tritonshed! :upthumb:

As to your question about the seats, it appears Triumph changed the way they are embossing the seats. I've seen seats on newer bikes here in the U.S. that do not have the outlined embossing, and the line that swoops from the R to the H is different. That's the latest incarnation of Triumph's corporate identity logo.

No matter, it's still a great looking custom paint job. And the folks behind you will know they are following the greatest bike in the world! :-D

I would like to give some advice on this:

Make sure that the marker you buy doesn't say, "not for use on vinyl".

And of course I went to my local staples store and bought a Pilot brand gold marker with and extra fine tip, ripped the box open when I got home and went to work. The only problem was a day and a half later it still wasn't dried. I thought thats weird, and looked on the box and right there it said not to use on vinyl.

I managed to get most of the paint back off with that goo off stuff, but it messed up the vinyl a little bit. Not as shinny where i was rubbing it off now. I went back over the lettering with a black sharpie to hide the remaining gold I couldn't get off.

Guess I'm gonna get the solo seat sooner than I expected!!!
