Such a minor thing but it's annoying the heck out of me.
In the UK (not so sure about US) the bikes come with stickers on the top of the tank which are safety warnings I think. Mine is 1/3 peeled off but the rest is soo old and dried on there that I can't get it off. Often try to scrape a little off with my nails.

Any tricks I can use to get the rest of it off without damaging the pain underneath?

Apply a little gentle heat from a hairdryer, you should find it will soften quite quickly.

You might try a hair drier.

Heat up the sticker and this may help to release the glues bond and try peeling or picking away at it again.

Its worth a try.

Put a little lighter fluid on a soft cloth and it'll take the left over sticky gunk right off and wont harm the finish. I've done furniture repair and refinishing for 20 years and keep a can of Naptha for cleaning any painted surfaces. lighter fluid is the same thing

OK thanks guys. Will try it tonight.

I'm picking her up from the garage tonight and after getting all the work on her I can afford for a while, I can't wait. She should look, sound and go great.

Therefore once I'm home I anticipate an evening in my garage tinkering, putting in the new K&N air filter and if possible removing this annoying sticker.
That, and generally welcoming the old girl home!

I just got the sticker off mine this past Saturday. I'd picking at it to no avail for two months, but the bike had been sitting in direct sunlight on a humid 90-degree (32 C) day, and the sticker was pretty soft. I went at it with my thumbnail and a spray bottle (!) of goo-gone (orange oil extracts). It still took probably a half-hour of picking and scraping, but it came off. I sprayed it down with goo-gone to get the last little bits, rinsed it off, and gave it a fresh coat of wax. Now it looks super.

Best to peel them off when they're new, it's much less work.

WD-40. Let is soak for a few minutes. Clean and wax the tank when done.

I just used WD-40 and picked at it with my nail. About a half hour and it was done. Then waxed the tank, looks much better.
