I was wondering how the single seat and rack install on the Scrambler. Does it install as one piece held on by the stock bolts at the rear?

The reason I ask is that sometimes I take my kids for a ride so I would need to switch back to the stock two place seat. So I was wondering if the Single seat with rack can be removed easily.

Thanks
John

Bonnielass has that seat on her Green... I think it comes on and off easily, but if you and/or your kids aren't too big, you could easily give them a ride on the back with the single seat. We had to do just that last week dropping my coffin off for a brake job - I drove the bike home with her perched on the back, she said her cheeks were on the rack "a bit" but there was room. That said, I'm a pretty thin guy (33" waist) and she's no chunker, so your results may vary.

I use that seat when solo. To switch back to stock takes as much time as it takes you to undo the two seat bolts, swap seats, and re-attach the bolts. I'd say 90 seconds!

To be more percise, there is some initial assembly needed for the solo seat with rack but then it's all "one."

So it's one piece after the intial assembly?

Sounds like it will work for me.

The seat arrives in a gigantic box, as seat pan/seat, rack, and cowl. Takes 2 different size allen wrenches and about 20 min to assemble the first time, then you needed disassemble again. Very comfy.

If you want really fast changes, get some of these suckers:

www.newbonneville.com/html/tool_free_seat_bolts.html

I have them on my bike and switching from the Scrambler Rack seat to my stock Bonnie seat takes a minute or two if I'm dawdling.

Seeing as how I'm on my second set of New Bonneville seat bolts, please be aware of the need to tighten them rather snugly. My first set backed out and were gone before I knew it. Say, isn't there a way to make the seat bolts 'captive'? Any ideas out there?

I use a rubber O-ring that fits snuggly on the threads. It acts as a lock-washer. The bolts came with a split lock washer, but it chewed up the plastic seat anchor just a bit too much for my liking. The split washer also fell of the bolts just about every time I removed the seat. The little rubber O-rings work just fine for me.

As others have posted, the switch is fast and easy, especially if you have the "finger-only" mounting bolts installed.

I like the solo seat for comfort. I am sure seats vary according to the butt of the rider, but I can ride for hours on the solo/rack seat with no discomfort.
