Registering the bike tomorrow and need to get some basic liability insurance. Any one i should check out. So far Ive gotten quotes from Progressive direct and Markel bike line. Seems like all of the companies are going to be within $20-$30 of each other for the year.

I'm sure its been discussed before but I've had issues with the search function here.

May sound dumb but I switched from Progressive to Geico and....well.... saved money. They were cheaper for me. Other friends it was Progressive cheaper than Geico so you have to check.

Another guy I know went with Dairyland (Dairyman, Dairymen heck, Dairy something) I think it was and they really saved him a bunch on his Daytona.

Good luck!

Something else to check besides premium prices is how well they handle claims. I have Progressive and they seem to be reasonable in price. I also had a claim last year. They ended up totally my bike and gave me NADA price, which is the lowest of them all by the way. Also if you have accessories or other aftermatket goodies, keep receipts. I didn't because the bike came with them when I bought it used, but $1000.00+ in extras added about $250.00 to the price! One nice thing and it may be just my policy, but any safety stuff, helmets, jackets, pants, gloves, boots are covered 100% replacement cost with no deductible! Totally separate from the bike claim. That was nice to know. Also I learned in Illinois at least, don't know about other states, but if your vehicle is totaled and is less than 10 years old you can not buy it back from the insurance company after they total it. It's given a salvage title and only a dealer can buy it.

Don't know what your age or budget is, but AIG gave me the best rate, which I'm pretty satisfied with at 20 y/o. They also cover either 1,000, or 3,000 dollars worth of accessories. Not sure about gear. From what I've heard, dairyland is also pretty cheap.

After checking out the competition I went with ANPAC.

I haven't made a claim yet (knock wood) but I like their package, pricing and I have a local agent that has been very helpful in answering any questions I have and finding the best and least expensive way to add coverage for my sidecar.

Another thing I like about ANPAC is that if you have your homeowners policy with them, they have a 25% premium rebate plan if you're claim free for a rolling three year period.

ended up going with progressive. For 21 and living in RI they seemed to have the best rates.

Id love to meet up for a ride but i registered for the the safety course at ccri back in about April; had to reschedule my first lecture class in the middle of may and haven't heard***** back from ccri. So basically I'm still waiting on my license

Every one you talk to there all the way up to the dean has the same answer, ill take your name and number and call you back... riight, im still waiting
