Just wanting to find out from all of you that are running the NH toga mufflers what type of sound they produce. Do they make more of a low bass note rumble or is it more of a high pitched raspy sound? I love the classic looks of the Togas, but I want a low bass note exhaust versus the higher pitched raspy ones. I don't care how loud they are...I care more about the type of sound they make (ie pitch). Are these the cans I want for the type of sound I'm looking for? If not, what would you recommend?
I've heard sound clips of various mufflers, but I can't find any of the Togas. The Predators sound nice (very close to the sound I'm looking for), but I want a more classic look. I know Staintune makes a similar-to-stock exhaust, but I'm not paying $1k for a slip on muffler. TORs will not be loud enough for me so I know I don't want those.
Any comments are greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

They're low sounding with the original 60s triumph sound with that beautiful gurgle on the over run, under engine braking.
I can now really fool the old guys that it's 40 odd years old, specially since I fitted the gaitors.

The NH Togas (Classics) are exactly what you're looking for. Very high quality and they are more mellow and have a lower base note as you say you desire but they will "rap" rather loudly under mid to hard acceleration. The Emgo/Sprint/BellaCorse mufflers that look like the NH Togas are all around louder with a "raspy" higher pitched exhaust note and they are glass packed compared to the stainless steel wool packing of the NH Togas. I've never heard anyone that bought the NH Togas complain that they were not loud enough.
If you buy them I'd suggest plugging the small holes in the sides of the tailpipes that are used for mounting the optional baffles/mutes that come with them. I used small tapered head machine screws to plug the holes to prevent a slight "swishing" sound at idle. I think the best sources are newbonneville.com and Hermy's. Also give them about a 1,000 miles to break in and I think you'll be pleased.

To me, the NH Togas sound very close to the predators--I can't tell them apart from sound only...ditto what BillT said.
Toga, Toga, Toga :-D :-D :-D
You ought to hear em on the dyno at 8100 rpm... :upthumb:

Thanks for the helpful replies. Looks like I'll be ordering the Togas. From your descriptions, they sound like just what I'm looking for. You gentlemen with the 865 engines, what jetting do you run with the Togas. I will be leaving the stock air box for now (but will change the filter to K&N)....just changing exhaust, jets, and pulling the AI.

I first re-jetted my 865 with 120 mains. Seat of the pants dino testing and it seemed to run well. Very good improvement in the bikes performance. Next tried 130 mains but it would not take it, especially at altitude 3000 feet and over. I am running 125 main jets presently. Seems to run well up and down the mountain. Looking to do a real dino test in the near future.
Followed the Jenk's Bolts information. K&N filter, for 125 mains 3 turns out, drilled out the slides to 3mm. Removed snorkel and replaced with the Polaris bellmouth. Don't really know if the bellmouth added anything besides a cleaner appearance though.
Also running NH Togas. Did not install baffles. I am very please with the appearance and sound quality of the Togas.

I am up the hill in Hendersnville, and Myers of Asheville re-jetted mine to 115 main jets after installing my Togas. Even after adding a NH Bellmouth, it runs strong and fly's like a rocket, and I get great gas milage. 48.84 MPG after Sundays run to Cherokee and back 133 miles. :-D
