Sweat...although I haven't commented much on your threads...I have been following religiously every day since your initial tear-down. I was at work yesterday...talking to a buddy with an 05 SV650, he is picking up a Gixxer 750 front end for his SV and I told him I wanted his SV front end...So it's mine as soon as he gets swapped on/off. Then I started thinking? Hmmmm, quit *****-Foot'n around and build that sick ass Torque Monster I planned even before I bought the Bonnie.

SO, Check it out...I'm going all out on the Bonnie this winter. I've done the ARK, Straight pipes, Suspension, Beef'd up the rear tire, and some other odds and ends...I'm completely addicted to this moto...I have decided to move forward sooner than originally planned...This winter, while it's 35 degrees and raining ice...I plan to tear back into the moto. Question?

Do you suggest I do Upgraded Carbs first?
Do 904 kit first?
Save up/Take my time...Do both at the same time?

I understand you want to Dyno pre-new carbs...but what do you plan to go with eventually?

Right now the Bonnie pulls like a train (No such thing as gently taking off from 1st since I started modding)...especially for having my train of an ass on the top of it (6'2"- 280).

So...Let me have it...What do you advise? Everyone please feel free to comment>>

Shameless pic-

And the Goodwood Green is going too...Wait till you guys see it...I don't want to give away my paint scheme...or lack thereof...

Sounds like quite an undertaking but good luck. I happen to like that goodwood green, it seems to be one of T's more popular colors.

Enjoy the upcoming mods...

go for it!

I just ordered a set of Speedmaster triple trees. They are the same width and fork size as the SV trees and forks, but fit the bonnie frame (I think), so I'm going to slap the Speedmaster trees on, and hopefully the SV forks and wheel/brakes etc will just bolt right up. The worst case scenario will be having to machine a few spacers, or shim something, not too bad. I got the trees from Baxter Cycle (salvaged, but not damaged) for $300ish. New they'd be twice that.

The rear wheel will need a custom brake rotor made, the SV rotor is a lot smaller than the bonnie, so I'm going to have a SV rotor made that is the same diameter as the bonnies, I think this will cost 200-300 bucks.

The SV chain/sprocket is the same 525 chain as the bonnie, so no worries there. Other than possible spacing issues it shouldn't be too bad, even the axle is the same diameter.

Big bore or carbs first?

That depends on you, but I think you really need both! I'm running stock carbs on my bike now and they're really limiting the power, I can really feel the weakness of them if that makes sense. I'll say this, the only carb kit worth buying is Bonneville Performance's HSR41mm mikuni kit. I'm thinking about buying a pair of TM36mm mikunis (about $300 for the pair) and making my own "kit", just to save money and see how they work out.

Thanks for the props man!

I'm thinking I'll have my SV stuff fitted within the next 2 months or so.

Here's my shameless pic:

If you can afford the carbs now, get em and do em on a weeknight or something. Thats something easy, and you dont have to wait for winter. You can get rid of the stockers for a few bucks to make some money for the big bore stuff. I did the Mikuni, after a big bore on my HD, and I wish I would have had this carb a few years ago, the stock CV carb on the HD's are junk compared to this thing.

Love the color of your bike, personally I'd be weary of changing the color. Don't see very many green's around.

As for bigbore or carb's first, I dont think it make's a difference. I will however say that you'll gain more pony's and torque out of doing a bigbore kit than you will with carb's. I was able to get roughly 75 horses out of my bike with the stock carb's on..( with stock valves and minimal headwork )...the sum of my mod's at this point were airbox removal, billet intakes, 8400 rpm limiter, predators, 904 kit with exhaust cam advanced 1 tooth.

Had I done more extensive headwork and bigger valve's like machine has...I'd expect a few more...maybe 78 on the same dyno.

The bike ran like a totally different machine, without really making any sacrifice in drivability.

...adding the carb's afterwards gained me 8 horses on the same dyno..( Mikuni hsr's )...and really woke the bike up. I am presently jetted at 20 pilot's with 97 needle's raised all the way up and 150 mains..( accel pump's are disabled ) I have the air screws 3/4 turn's out on theleft bank and 1.25 turn's out on the right.

Very little popping thru the exhaust during decel...and lot's of arm straightening torque during acceleration :-)

Presently I have another project which is eating at my time and money...when I sell that project off I'll be looking at adding a different head with a reshaped combustion chamber, larger valves and extensive port work.

I have read that a head similar to this represent's 10 hp over a stock head.

I'll let ya know how that work's out...

Thanks Everyone!! You guys are great...I can't wait to get inside and tinker...I'm going to do some homework...plan the carbs, 904 kit, front end, rear end...all that good stuff...As usual, I'll keep you posted!

As for the color...I dig the Goodwood Green, but it's a stock color, and I want to make this thing mine. Unique, Original, the Sore Thumb...Here is a test plate I put together...It's only a sneak peek...I can't tell you anymore about the design.

And Yes, it will be done in house...My house, Well the Garage actually! Except the clear coats...that's at my buddies studio.

Wow, don't even consider changing that color on your bike. That green looks awesome, one of the best colors I've seen on the Bonnie. It really fits the bike perfectly.

I think bike looks good green i wouldnt change it unless you paint it blue everyone knows blue bikes are faster should pick up 5 hp painting it blue lol.I did the carbs on my bike first that way wont have to pull motor down till cold weather. You can ride it and get use to the big carbs. They take some getting use to but they make the bike start and run much better. The 42s are the way to go.
