Hi Everyone,
My seach for a Bonnie continues. I found an 05 with 3500 miles on it. The owner let me test ride it and I noticed that the front brake pulsated on harder braking (after it warned up). My question is, has anyone experienced any issues with warped rotors? I am a bit concerned about buying a bike that will need $300 worth or rotor work.

Thanks

It has been an issue, and would have been replaced under warranty had the previous owner chosen to do so.
It will not be that much (300) to fix it and I would not let it deter me from an otherwise nice low mileage bike. Another point to ponder..98% of all used vehicles need SOMETHING many times its the reason for sale, and its why you get it relatively cheep. Thats the way it works

If its just the rotor (and what else could it be really?) I wouldn't worry.

Put your money down and fire it up!

Putting on the new rotor will just bring you closer - you'll make a fine couple, I can tell.

If you replace the rotor and the new one warps in a few thousand miles or less, you have a front hub problem. Triumph had a problem with front hubs from one vendor...apparently only a small percentage of bikes were affected.

Good luck,
Larry

I am just about to get my front rotor replaced for the second time as it is warped again. First time at 6000kms and now at 10,000kms.
I mentioned about the possiblity of the hub being defective but as of today the word from Triumph was no such thing about defective hubs so all I'm getting is the rotor replaced.
Any comments or proof of the possible hub problem?

Do an Advanced Search on the Bonnie Owners Forum for Warped Rotor, Hub, etc. Tell the search engine to find ALL the words if there is more than one word in a search. Then try the Vertical Twins Hangout, then the BA/SM forum. Good info within the last two years.

There's at least one guy here in the UK that has had his front wheel replaced by Triumph after repeated disc warping. His dealer eventually measured the hub and it wasn't machined correctly thus causing the disc to warp. Triumph in the UK certainly know of this issue, although it's not that common.

Yep, my dealer just advised that a new hub is on its way from the UK. He took my word that the hub runout is 0.09mm and Triumph took his. Now he has to lace a wheel - a black art that I would have thought would not be required, but a new wheel assembly is $1700, so the go is for him to do the hard work and he is not happy. Obviously a known issue.

I checked with a 3rd party who reckons that a hub should have 0mm runout - it is a machined casting after all.

Cheers.

Tell your 3rd party that there is no such thing as zero. All components and processes have a tolerance.
Cheers.

This is true, English_Spanner, but you'd have to agree that 0.09mm is way too much.

Cheers
