So I went to a local bike meet last night - the Alton Cafe. There were a hundred or so bikes there I guess and whilst I wandered around admiring the exotica I noticed 3 guys taking a close look at my bike. For a few seconds I felt so proud until I realised they were showing a little too much interest in the oil cooler.

I was told they had spotted a small oil leak and lo and behold they were right. It seems that when runnning there was an oil leak from whete the oil cooler joins the pipes and it was being blown over the cam cover on the left hand side of the bike.

It's going in for some work to the garage soon so I'll let them sort it out - but is this indicitive of any serious problem or simply a connection that needs tightening up?

PS - had to admire someones new Ducati Paul Smith - forgive me!

I had a similar leak on the oil line from the cooler to the cylinder head. I replaced the copper crush washer (less than $1) and no more leak. Should be an easy fix.

Put a wrench on it first to make sure it isn't just loose but do not over tighten. If there is a lot of oil then the copper gasket may be split.

I had a similar leak in the sending unit behind and between the cylinders. Sometimes the banjo connections loosen up and it's just a matter of either tightening them slighting or replacing the washers.
