Took delivery of my new Speedmaster on Saturday. While riding around the local area I stopped at an intersection on a country road, put my feet down and the right food must have went down on an oil spot. Foot slipped and bike went down on the right side in slow motion. Nothing appears to be hurt except my pride and a scratch on the back of the mirror. I was suprised though as I was able to pick it up by the handlebars.

So...you want what sort of a response?

Glad you're okay, glad the bike has minimal damage. Glad you will be more fastidious when planting your feet...

Help us out here...

:-D

Oh, yea, newbie, you owe us a round of beer. :hammer:

Welcome!

:-D

Watch for the same problem when gassing up. Plenty of spills of diesel and oil in the service stations over here! Speaking from experience....

Enjoy.........Binnsy

I had an almost exact same drop though mine was a gravel slide. I bet I have the exact same small scratch on the back of the mirror. No other scratches from that little episode and lesson learned.
Glad to hear the bike wasnt hurt or yourself.

Derek

Watch out in the rain, and at toll plazas too.
Best to get an EZ Pass for tolls.
Enjoy the bike & ride safe.

Thanks for the advice everyone. Fortunately I'm in an area where there aren't many toll roads (2 local) and I almost always avoid them completely.

Welcome to the dropped bike club :-D First week I had mine after a 30 year lay over. I dropped mine 4 times (Poor Bonnie) Once making a turn on my gravel driveway, twice in a row on wet grass in my field, and the drop of all drops in front of a verrry laaarge crowd at Caesars Head State Park in SC when the forced to park on a slanted pavement forgot there was an additional 6 inches between my left foot and the ground, got up to a round of applause, took a bow, picked up the bike with help of son's and proceeded red-faced to level ground. :-D

I was on day 2 of a 4 day trip last week. I was in Tenne on my way to the Dragon. I came to an intersection and was convinced I was there before and I was lost. So I come up to the stop sign kinda freakin' out. Once I realized I was not lost I took off into a left turn at the intersection. Only I had the bike in 3rd gear, and I got 10 feet and it stalled while leaned over pretty good. I could not pick it back up, and had to gently let it fall to the ground, I had to fall too and was laying on my back in te street with my bike on me. Same deal though only tweeked my mirror. I pulled into a VFW hall across the street to see how back I screwed up. This older fella walks up to me out of the VFW and says' "the bartentder told me to tell ya he would buy ya a beer if you need one." Being it was 8:00am I declined. I made it to the Dragon with on other boo boos.

Good name for a club-

"Dropped Bike Club"

I have to be a charter member! 5 times in 14 months. In Omaha I bought and installed the Triumph chrome crash bars. Now we'll see who damages their bike at a stop sign :-D
