Count me in as well: a few weeks ago doing a u-turn on a gravel road I dropped the Thruxton righ on its clutch side. I balme it on gravel and a kooky incline. No injuries to me, but a scratched mirror and I popped of the clutch lever. Thanks to a buddy and this website for the idea I managed to get home using a pair of vice grips as a clutch lever.

And yes, lesson DEFINITELY learned.

Done it the first day I had the bike. Picked it up from the dealer and rode it home........... very carefully after not being on one for 20 years. My driveway is very steep and I tried to ride down it while turning slightly to the right. Because it's steep I need to use my rear brake so needed to lift up my right foot. These things don't steer very well at slow speed and you can guess what happened next. Only the mirror damaged thankfully. ooops! A quick look to see if the neighbours were watching and although not light, its amazing what you can lift if you want.
I now make sure the bike is facing straight ahead before I set off down the driveway. Lesson learnt!

I figured somebody would call me out by now......However, there was a time when I thought I put my kickstand down.....And as Daz coined that type(or types) of situation(s)so very well :"Good thing it was O.K. or I thought I'd hang myself right then and there"!..........Keep the rubber on the Ground! Speed. :-D

Nearly everyone has dropped their bike at some point and most have lived to tell the tale!

I have dropped mine twice, both times when pulling away at a junction when the bike was cold. I start the maneuver, gently lean in to the turn and wham - the bike stalled. Both times, the bike was still on choke and both times I did not give it enough wrist. First time, it was mirror only ... second time, I bent the gear change lever pretty bad. Managed to hobble home and lever it back into position.

This was all after my return to riding after a long absence and I have put it down to lack of experience and getting to know the new machine.

I am much more cautious now when pulling away and mindful of giving adequate throttle. There is absolutely no chance of "catching" the fall at 5-10mph in a lean - if it stalls or you lean too much too early - the bike IS going down.

Sorry to hear about the drop - but get them out the way early - then you keep clean sheet (shut out in US lingo, right?)
