Proud owner of a new Bonneville T-100 here, asking about mpg. I live in west central Florida, climate is hot, and humid. I use my Bonnie for main transportation to and from work and school. At 124 miles, I had to switch to reserve. I don't ride over 60 mph. With 4.5 gallons, I think I should do better than 30-ish mpg. I did fill up at a Hess with Premium if that matters. :???:

Hi tshadow,
If you do a search, you'll find a couple of threads where many riders posted their mpg experience. Your switching to reserve at 124 seems in line with most, including my own. One thing I've noticed is that it only takes a little over 3 gallons to fill from a fresh switch to reserve, so the mileage is in the 40 range. Also, I've noticed that I tend to underfill my tank, i.e., recently I've carefully filled past where I normally stop and find I can get much more fuel in there than I thought. In any event, I don't recall many riders posting more than 45mpg, if any.
Roger

I'm sure the mileage will get better after she's broken in. I sometimes switch over to reserve at 125-130 miles, but when I fill up I never get in as much as you would think. I'm getting around 50 mpg with air box gone, 145 mains, 42 pilots, thruxton needles. I don't commute on it and usually ride like I'm not concerned about mileage.

This one comes up for sure, seems the 865 engines typically get less but my 790 gets better than 50 mpg when I chill and low to mid 40's when I am floggin. The airbox removal didn't affect my gas mileage, just runs better.

The only way to figure mpg on these bikes is to divide miles run (from your trip odo) by the gallons it takes to fill it up to the same level as it was before. You can't judge it by what you think the tank holds. I run a 2005 T100 with NH Classics, 125 mains, K&N with bellmouth in place of snorkel, in mountains at 1800-5000' on 89 octane BP/Amoco, and I uniformly get 39.5-40 mpg.

My bone stock Bonnie gets 50-53 routinely. I never can get more than 2.5 - 2.9 gallons of so on a fill up so the advice to measure what you actually put in is really important. Don't fill it into the neck or you will just see it on the ground, especially in hot weather. Plus it might pull a vacuum and stop feeding gas to the carbs.

It depends on several factors but I hit reserve between 100 and 110 miles.

When I first got the bike and wasn't thrashing it I managed 130miles before hitting reserve. Then I put some TORs on it, had it rejetted and started giving it some - and now hit reserve between 100 and 110...

I usually fill up at 125 miles.
The few times I rode it to reserve, it went to 155 - 165 before I had to switch.
My bike gets usually 50+ MPG.
Most of my riding is country roads and light highway.
