Do any of you guys patch your tires/tubes curbside if you get a flat? I have changed them in my garage, but can imagine it would be a difficult job on the side of a road -- especially removing the rear wheel and supporting the bike...

Nope! Cut a tire Sunday, and had it picked up by a bike shop (ACME) open on Sundays as a convenience for the riders who ride the minnie Dragon. :-D

NEVER!!!! My ins covers the tow & the 1st hour labor. So a flat costs $14 - the cost of a new tube! Try to change flat on the side of the road & you will be as flat as your tire!! :hammer:

Zoogler,
If you are already changing the tires in your garage then you're 90% there. A center stand is excellent for any type maintenance and it is always with the bike.

Add a patch kit, the tire irons you already own and a small bicycle pump to your tank or saddle bag and at least you have another option. The confidence that you know how to fix a flat is comforting especially when traveling.

I had to patch a tube in a parking lot. I was 75 or so miles from home, out in the countryside so I had few options. It certainly wasn't fun. Centerstand makes it possible, having the right tools makes it tolerable. I wouldn't want to do this again but I'm prepared if it becomes necessary.
