Now that I have a Bonnie in the garage, I need to figure a way to carry usual day-to-day stuff. At the moment, I've just bungeed a bag to the rear of the seat.
The Triumph Fabric saddle bags have a nice look to my eye. Anyone own these and care to comment.
Also, considering a tank bag. Thoughts?
Thanks,
JC

for everyday use the triumph fabrics are great, as long as you dont need to carry too awfully much. They have a built in rain cover when needed, which is very convenient. I have used them for the occaisonal weekend get-away, too, but if you want to really tour you will need bigger bags.

I have them, they are very durable and carry quite a lot but a helmet won't go in there. I use mine to carry a small toolkit my two bike locks. After a couple of years of use they still look really good.

I have them, and they work fine, look pretty good, but don't hold a heck of a lot. I only use mind for trips and, combined with a bungied top bag--probably like what you're using--and there's plenty of volume for a few days on the road.
BTW, using the Triumph bags in combination with the bungy-on bag, I don't bother removing the seat to mount the saddlebags. Instead I just sling them over the seat and bungy on the top bag. The saddlebags themselves attach to the supplied rails and this set up works great, plus is very easy to take off when you reach your night time destination.

I own a set of the fabric back and like them. They're not the largest saddle bags Ive ever seen but you can stuff a good amout of ***** in there. I packed for a 4 day weekend in just the two saddle bags and fit about 5 t-shirts, two pairs of jeans, personal hygiene gear and my hat no problem. I'm also 6'2" and 240# so I don't have small clothing. My only issue is that the leading edge of the top comes up when on the highway. I'm not really worried about rain or anything but it just looks kinda dumb. I'm gonna glue/sew some heavy duty velcro on that edge and that should take care of that.

A couple of you mention that you bungee a bag behind you on the seat. I own the Triumph Leather panniers, and have thought about strapping a bag behind me, as an addition.
My question is: How do you attach the bag? Is it safe to use the seat-strap, the grab-rail and / or the pannier-rails?

I jsut recieved the tank bag for my B Day last night. I was very impressed with it. I've always been found of the BMW tank bags the way they fit the bike and the quality. Triumph's is very close to that, and way less then half the cost. Good job Triumph! BTW does anyone have both tank bag and the saddle bags? are they matching? are they the same quality as the tank bag? I may see a set in my future.

Check out the writeups on the fabric bags in the Reviews section. I'm not a huge fan of my set--you can read about my experiences, and others, in the reviews.

Thanks, all...
great info. Not planning to use them for long tours so they sound good.
Roger,
Liked your tip on throwing them over the saddle when you have a bag bungeed to the saddle.

Hey TB,
Here's a link to the bag I use. If you look closely at the picture, you'll see some bungy cords with plastic hooks that are built-into the bag. I just snug them up and hook them to the bottom rim of my stock Bonnie seat.
