i'm in the Navy and wondering where on the bike to put the DOD decals. i really hate to stick it to the paint on the fork, but it seems like it'd be easy enough to remove should the need arise. let's hear some ideas/see some pics 8-)

Look at the possibility of adding an aluminum plate using the bolts on the front fork (or front caliper). Keep the plate small enough for the stickers and thin enough so as not to compromise the function of the bolts.

I decided not to put stickers on my Bonnie...just couldn't distract from all that perfect black.

I did the same thing....made a plate to attach to the front caliper...didn't want to stick on the paint...most people here just slap them on the fork tube sideways.

I stuck mine on the fork tube, after thinking about it I would have made some kind of plate and zip-tied / pipe clamped it to the fork tube.

did you just use the two hex bolts that hold the caliper onto the fork? does the aluminum plate just fold back over the caliper then?

If I had to do it over again, I would fab up a bracket that mounted where the front reflectors are, behind the horn and stick them on the left side. I just stuck them on the fork.

Before you put on a sticker, talk with the security / pass officer. Here in San Antonio, the Air Force is doing away with stickers entirely within the next year. It finally dawned on someone that those stickers make you and your family a potential terrorist target when you are off base.

Got my bike from a DOD member, he had the sticker on the front right fork. I was able to peel it off, and some paint came off with it...here and there...it doesn't look too bad.
