Why is it such a special wheel? Is there some unique hub or something? Seems so strange to me that you can go to any wheel site and find tons of models but nothing that will fit a Bonnie unless you have something specially made? Am I missing something here? When I replaced the wheels on the HD I had too MANY choices available..
BTW, Sweat, nice looking ride. I like your answer: it will be cool and no one has done it!
A big reason I bought my Bonnie was because I wanted something different than a HD or HD clone.

I've got a lot of respect for those like Sweat and Rodburner that have so effectively customized their bikes to their own tastes, AND charted previously uncharted territory. But so much of the appeal of the Bonnie--at least for me--is tied to the classic look of the spoked wheel. I could never seeing swapping for anything else!

Saltrat, thanks. I love the look of spokes too.If I hadn`t been so anxious to go tubeless,I would have worked a couple more Saturdays and gotten the carbonfiber versions.Oh well, maybe next year. :-D

I want to be able to tour/cruise cross country solo without having to carry or use (mostly use) all the tools needed to pull the tire, pop the bead, replace inner tubes.................
I want a tire repair kit, and a cell phone/credit card. Easy!

But you can't even find replacement spoke wheels. I am a recreational rider with 2 boys still to put through high school and though I seldom ride more than 75-80 mph, I prefer not to do a face plant at that speed because my spoke broke. All this talk about pre-ride checks, like that is going to ensure you're not going to get a broken spoke during your ride, possibly causing loss of the control? I know the spoke issue may be minimal compared to the number of bikes, but from the number of people on here who have experienced it I believe the issue serious enough to warrant a different wheel that is safer. Pre-ride inspections? Like that is going to ensure no broken spokes?
I like the bike overall but I'm a little disappointed with the lack of responsibility on the part of the manufacturer. And I would even overlook it if I could find something else to replace the ***** things with...

Sponger, you`re right about the plethora of HD ready rims.If PM and Ness would bust out a couple 5 or 7 spoke versions for the new Bonnies, they would have to put on another shift to keep up with the demand. Making a custom rim isn`t that hard I don`t think. Just enter the parameters into the CNC machine and push a button. But billets cost a ton more than my almost primative cast rims. Forged rims are lighter but also expensive. The Dymags fit the Bonnie perfectly, just transfer your rotors, seals, spacers and speedo drive to them and bolt them on. They come with the bearings installed as well as a Talon aluminum sprocket, cush drive and all the nuts and bolts for the switch over.Different colors are available too.

Beware where you buy!!!
The dymags are a good buy in the US. From here (hong kong) I got a quote from the UK and the US and found the ones sold by a US distributor were $300 cheaper than the ones from the UK, faster and cheaper delivery too.
Like SM says the roadside plug is more convenient.
There must be a cheap semi-plug and play 2nd hand Japanese version available... someone knows something for sure...

Greg - I used "the ride shop" in Woodstock, GA to lace up a set of 17 x 3.5 and 17 x 4.25 Excel rims and Buchanan heavy duty stainless steel spokes. They have done a number of Bonnies including Bonifides, and Scott03 bonnie's bikes.
I have the pre-tech six piston caliper and it clears the 17" wheel fine. 160mm rear and 120mm front Michelin Pilot Powers also have no clearence issues.

Thrux-ton-up,
I checked out your album, nice! Are all of those your bikes! Looked like you had the Hagon shocks on you T100. How do you like them? I just ordered a set yesterday and wanted to know if they are decent for "comfortable" riding. I do see myself doing 100 through the turns...
Thanks for the suggestion about "the ride shop" in Woodstock. I appreciate it.
I live in Jefferson, just off of exit 137 on I85 north. About where are you located? All my riding friends here moved away and I generally just ride by myself. Next time you're taking a ride to the mountains let me know and I see if I can join up.
Thanks, Greg

Thrux-ton-up,
Mind me asking the ballpark price for the wheel job you describe from the "the ride shop"?
