Ok, so another silly question (newbie under my name says its ok though) :-D ... but where does eveyone keep their papers like insurance, regs... and what not. Does anybody make a type of aftermarket bracket for the seat to flip up or something like that? Or does eveyone just have a stuffed wallet/pockets too? I dont want to spend $300+ on a new Corbin seat for a little compartment... but anybody else come up with something? Thx

Mondo

Under the seat, there's a small pocket where the owners manual is stored, I keep my papers there.
It isn't easy to get to, but the papers are always with the bike.

I got a very nice black zip up A4 document case with a rubberised Triumph patch on the site. I've kept all my paperwork, registration, insurance and servicing receipts in the one place.

I think it is different in US than AUS ntr1972. We don't carry reg and insurance papers with us on the bike.
BTW I have one of those black zip up's, very nice.

Like Thruxton, I used to keep my paperwork under the seat. I put it in a ziplock bag and secured it under the battery strap. Others use these clever license place compartments like this one available from Aerostich. However, lately I've been leaving my tankbag on the bike all the time. I transferred the ziplock to the side compartment of the bag. This has really been the best solution for me, as now I can carry my documents, some tools, and a rainsuit all the time. Picture below:

Drivers license (of course) and proof of insurance stay in my wallet. That's all I carry with me, because that's all I need to show if pulled over (in Texas). Everything else in the fore-mentioned Triumph zipper bag that came with my bike (at purchase).

And BTW... those Corbin smuggler seats are more like $800. :wow:

I keep my license, registration, and proof of insurance in my wallet. I wouldn't want to pi$$ off a lawman by making him wait while I first remove my side cover to get the hex wrench, and then remove the seat to get to my papers.

What I did, however, was use the office copier to shrink down my proof of insurance and vehicle registration to about 40%. Then I laminated both back to back and trimmed the excess. My registration and proof of insurance are now the size of a credit card (yes, still legible) and always with me in my wallet.

Cheers!

My required paperwork is in double ziplock sandwich bags in the little slot just in front of the battery. And for 300 bucks, you won`t get any storage compartment from Corbin either. :-D My manual is at home next to my cache of oil filters and 20/50.

I don't carry a wallet; I have cash, driver's license and a few other cards in my pocket.

On the motorcycle, I use a small fanny pack with AMA card, insurance card, and motorcycle registration, as well as telephone, sunglasses, and whatever other small stuff I need to carry at the time.

When I'm carrying more, I use a magnetic tank bag or small bicyclist's backpack. I prefer the backpack because I don't have to look at it.

I also have a magnetic map window that sits on the tank, haven't used it yet.

It would be nice to have a small storage compartment, but it isn't there.

Sheepdog, do you actually ride that thing? The pipes aren't blue! :-D

Ziplockbag duct tapped to the inside of the side cover. Use a quarter to unscrew. Fast and easy. Also keep a copy of the insurance card in my wallet. In the States they really don't ask for the registration that I have run into.
