You'll get both sides, so you really can't get a answer. However, it's generally thought the K&N flows slightly better at the expense of allowing larger particles to pass. I use a UNI for several reasons. The only definite advantage i can give is cost....about $15-20 less if i recall. To be honest tho, i doubt you'll find either to be notably better or worse than the other in any way.
I removed my UNI once and went for a ride around the block. The bike ran the same, so i assume it flows as much as the bike can use even with the bottom drilled. so i don't see how a K&N could flow more than no filter at all.
