Hello All,
I recently (two days ago) bought a 06 Bonneville Blk. I haven't even picked it up yet... tomorrow, I cannot sleep! But I have a question regarding re-jets. What are the jets, and how do you know what are in the bike currently. My new Bonneville has an after market exhaust (not sure on brand, reverse cone) already and no air box mods... that i know of yet. But do i need to change the jets? And let me say, this site rocks! It feels good that so many other people are in love with non-living thing too... and I haven't even rode it yet! :-D

Unless the guy you're buying the bike from is selling it 'cause he changed out his pipes and gutted his airbox and now it runs like *****... more than likely he rejetted the carbs properly.
If you're seriously concerned about it's performance... give it a go on a dyno.

You'll have to take them out to see what size is stamped on them. And if you're me look at them under a magnifying glass to read the number!

If you have any reason to be concerned, you'd be killing two birds if you just dyno it, as said.
So look, you gotta do some work to get the jets out and read the numbers. So, then you gotta find out what the numbers mean and if that sounds like proper jetting for your setup, but maybe the guy pulled the restrictor plate in the air box, and anyway no two bikes alike, because, what needles are in there? and what are the air screws set at!??!?
So forget it, just dyno it, see if the setup is objectively OK. If it is, great, you're done and if its not, the tech will tell you what direction to work toward.
With an unknown bike, it would be the fastest way to get oriented. Then ride?
Congrats on a great choice, and yes, red may be the fastest color, but black has the greatest velocity...

Thx guys, yeah I'm not too concerned with it, I just dont know that much about jets and motorcycle motors yet. Just seen alot of posts about people talking about jets and replacing them for just about everything and didnt know it there are some kind of rules to follow. But I picked it up today... and it rides great. So I think all should be good with it. Does the bike/tech manual expain alot, or is it more instructions to just change things and specs?

Hey, congrats! I'll let the mod lovers answer your tech questions, but I would ride it first and see if it feels good as is. It might not be broke, so don't fix it until you KNOW it is.
You write: "It feels good that so many other people are in love with non-living thing too... and I haven't even rode it yet"
Where did you get the idea that a Bonnie is a "non-living" thing? Wait until you have had it a while and you will change your mind about that! :yayyy:
Seriously, welcome aboard. Enjoy your new "love" and ride safe.

Just an afterthought but you may try asking the guy your buying it from. If he knows then thats a free fix.
Once you do, then this is how?
Jenks Tuning Guide, widely regarded as the bible by most modder's
Good luck.
