My Bonnie currently has Predators installed. Well made and the bike runs great. Problem is I'm thinking they may be a bit loud for my aging ears. So, I'm thinking of going to TORS. Quieter is good but what would I lose in performance?

Current set up:
AI removed.
Air box removed/K&N filters.
Predators.
145 main jets, 1 shim, 42 pilot jets.

Thanks

I'm curious as well as I have TOR's and was thinking of getting either Predators or Staintunes. Once you decide maybe a trade with cash is in order.

Jetting is the same for both sets of cans. 138 main jets, 1 shim, stock pilot jets.
.

No contest. Predators win hands down

These results were achived by the same operator on the same dyno. The engine mods at that time included airbox removed, K&N filters, the cylinder head skimmed, gas flowed and ported.

If performance is a big concern, check into Staintunes. They can claim the biggest gain in HP. They're extremely high quality and not as loud as your Predators. They come in either reverse cones or the classic peashooter style.

I have a set of TOR's that are a little scratched, or a set of D&D's that I would trade for the predators.

I have a set of Preds on my Thrux and a set of TORs on the Bonnie black. I've heard many say that the TORS are too loud and of course some say that of the Preds. To me, the Preds are hands down the best sound and quality for the money. The TORs are really too quiet for me, I was hoping for something in the middle with that set. Hope this helps

I have TORs on mine. The torque chart really tells me where the TORs are restricting. It also tells me why I feel such a charge between 4,500 and 6,500 rpm. I wonder what would happen if I gutted the cans?? The TORs are straight through, so it must be the cut angle in the baffles that causes the increase in restriction at certain rpm's. Mine have been on for almost 7yrs. They have got louder over time. Probably not much glass packing left. Anyone done a dyno on gutted TORs??
I've read it on so many posts, "TORs are quite quiet at idle, but really bark at higher rpm",.....HHmmmmmm probably between 4,500 and 6,500rpm.
Robnobrakes, was your bike jetted on the dyno with the predators installed?

cb, why not wear ear plugs, esp for longer rides? i've been riding for about a year now, and one of the first pieces of advice i received was to wear plugs. ear damage is permanent. i'll plug 75% of the time, the other 25% i'm puttering around town < 40mph so it's bearable. this advice goes along with: eat your vitamins and say your prayers!

happy safe riding!

Thanks for the input gents.

I do normally wear earplugs. Too many years around jet engines and working the firing range have taken a toll on my high frequency hearing.

To those offering to swap, I don't believe I want to do that right now. I may buy a used set of TORS, run them for awhile then sell the silencers I decide not to keep.

Thanks

Hi Jimi

The bike was jetted on the dyno when the airbox was removed, head skimmed ported and gas flowed with the TORS fitted. When I returned with the Predators, the fuel/air ratio was checked on the dyno and found to be perfect. So, no rejetting was required between TORS and Predators for my bike.
