Hey guys, just wanted to introduce myself. I'm buying my father-in-law's 04 America in a couple weeks. It'll be my first bike. I've got an MSF class coming up on July 11. Eh.. that's all for now.

Ridden before?

Yes, maybe no.... either way, PAY ATTENTION IN THAT MSF CLASS.

Congratulations on that purchase, I hope there's no strings attached.

Welcome aboard.

Way to go!

Welcome, you obviously have a refined sense of taste, as you have opted for the correct bike.

I rode a 100cc dirt bike waaay back in the day, so it'll be a learning experience for me. I'm not afraid of the bike but I'm definately not going to go out and do anything stupid. The plan is to ride it back and forth to work (1 mile through residential streets) and a bit more as I get more comfortable. I'm really anxious to get to the MSF class.

Welcome! The America/Speedmaster bikes are common first choices for new riders and very accomodating.

The MSF course is worth a million dollars. Be sure to practice when you graduate before tackling any heavy duty riding.

Congratulations and good luck with the bike! Ride safe.

Yeah, I definately don't want to ride the bike until I go to the MSF class since I haven't ridden anything in so long. If I lay a bike down getting reacquainted, I don't want it to be mine. Is there a good place to go to read about maintenance and such?

MSF class is great! Well worth the 175 bucks I had to pay. Enjoy the new bike!

What is next ..the physical riding test for endorsement? :???: If in fact it is , practice for the pylons in a parking lot every other space even try to narrow a bit .Just barely..throttle and use clutch to engage and disengage motor, it may seem awkward you might or you could fall over ....balance the bike, they are very nimble and at slow speeds you can dump if you don't practice...anyway for me ..yes ,I passed the physical riding test the pylons were a little rough, I had to put my feet down . once. You know during part of that class I did a lot of opposite things that I don't normally do ie.as for the pylons, had I not been over using the throttle like I was, unlike in the parking lot doing slow zigzags and slow left and right turns and should have let slight throttle& clutch pull me around the cones I would have smoothed right thru them in the test ;that is my opinion and several others there as well there at the test. Because the pylons are close together and offset.Take it easy don't sweat It . Use what you've learned to do the best of your abilities and balance. Practice. These are good-sized machines If I can do it so can you. 8-) Practice. KEEP THE RUBBER ON THE GROUND.

I'm going tomorrow to get the endorsement. There is no riding test in Alabama, just a written test.
