Just installed a Procom ignitor rev box.
Fired it up and ran 100 meters up the road to make sure it all works fine. Will give it a real run tomorrow.
Initial comments.... Does anyone run there Bonnie up in to redline? To me it still runs out of breath by 7000 grand anyhue - It doesn't fell to me to have anything left after this but obviously need to get it for a decent hit out.
I have installed the procom hoping to get better power delivery rather than top end? but interested to know what peoples experience with the cdi is.
BTW - I am running a 17 tooth front sprocket, which could account for the running out of legs feeling. i also intend to try upping this back to 18 and comparing the feel now that I am running the various mods and it is not such a dog.

if you're engine runs out of breath at 7000, and the stock limiter is set at 8400, and you add a procom, now your limit is 9000, but it does not make your engine more able to do it if it couldnt before.
as these engines are known to rev, inho the problem is with your set-up. Try 1 shim, and 140 mains, and 3 turns out. Mine dynoed perfect mixture with this set up and will bounce right off the limiter should I choose to. which by the way, at 8400 is enough unless you really need to wring it out excessively

the problem is that the stock cams quit making more power at about 7000 rpms, so no matter how much you raise the limit it won't make more power past that point.

my 06 bonnie black easily makes the rev limiter at 65 or so in second, no tach yet. seems to be still pulling strong. tor's, jets that came with them, ai removed, snorkel removed, about 3/4 turns more out than stock on the mixtures.

FYI, you have different cams in that 790cc than Blackjack has in his 865cc.

I ran with and without the ProCom..... With and without a smaller sprocket up front. MY initial impression was, "It sure is nice not bumping off that danm rev' limitter!!!"
But it's true, the peek of the engine's power (as it comes from the factory) is right about where the factory set it's "red line".
So then I ran a 790 with it's stock sprocket on the countershaft, and no ProCom. Fact of the matter is, the bike never felt to be lacking in it's stock set-up (save for intake & exhaust), and I no longer bounced off the rev' limiter.
Maybe, just maybe..... Triumph knows what they're doing.

My 865 pulls right up to the limit in the lower gears. I just twist the throttle and off it goes. It still pulls strongly between 7000 and 8000 in 4th and seems only limited by my courage.

TCB actually addressed this and to us that race or push our bikes a bit, the rev limiter issue is not about power, it is more about maintaining state in a corner. These bikes are not happy if you are shifting or rolling off throttle mid corner or having the rev limiter kick in, so the rev-limiter allows me on the Thruxton to address proper gear (which I should be in anyway :-D ) and state when done with the corner. Hope this makes sense...

Just wondering (because I don't have the huervos to try it myself) how fast are you going in 4th @ 8000 RPM?!?

Don't look at me, I'm not going 8000 RPM in 4th. 4th gear on a T100 (18 tooth) gives about 14 mph/1000 RPM. That would be about 112 mph @ 8000 RPM. I usually get scared just getting to ~7000 RPM (the ton) in 4th. I think the bike still has more, but I sure don't.
