I just sold my GSXR 750, too uncomfortable. Want a new Bonneville. I like the performance parts and look you get on the Thruxton, but how difficult and expensive would it be to replace the clip-ons with bars and replace the rear-sets with standard location pegs? I've got a co-worker with a new Red 675, and another with an Speed Triple. Can't want to roll in on my next bike. We slowing catching up to the number of Harley guys at work. Thanks

That's interesting... usually you see it going the other way - from Bonnie to Thrux. The Thrux does have some nice bits like alloy wheels and radial brakes, but I don't think there's much performance difference between the two.

I'm curious to hear if anyone's done this. Cool idea.

wow dude you are lucky saw this, while i take great pride in how my T100 looks/performs with all the parts i put on, the seat rearsets handle bars all i say is this, if you rode a gsxr 750 you will feel just fine on the thruxton and your wallet will feel much better when you arent spending astronomical amounts of money so you dont scrape your pegs in turns, or need lower bars ect.

It seems like the Bonnie and T100 owners modify their bikes towards the cafe/thrux look; while many of the thrux owners modify toward the more standard features of the Bonnies. NewThruxton.com sells this clip-on to handlebar conversion:

Don't know about converting from rear-sets to more forward pegs. You might find that the clip-on eliminator kit is more comfortable with rear-sets--many Bonnie owners combine low bars and aftermarket rear-sets.

Lots of Bonnie ownders want rearsets. You could actually trade all of your Thruxton stuff to someone in exchange for their Bonnie stuff. Problem is, when I say "all of your Thruxton stuff", I mean ALL of it. You'll have to send them the pegs, controls, footplates, and even the rear brake master cylinder and all of its attendant parts.

The rearsets on the Thruxton are not that extreme when compared to a modern day sportbike. I'd say ride it awhile with them on there before you start looking at doing a swap - and Mancha is right, you'll have to swap everything to get it right. IMO, it's not really worth it.

The clip on elim kit has already been pointed out too - but there's a NO MONEY fix for it - just flip/reverse the stock clip ons. It will bring them up in height and flat (without an angle) - totally changing your body position to a more upright. I got to see Thrux-ton-up's ride for the first this last weekend with his bars done this wat and I will be doing to the flip trick on my Thrux most riki-tiki.
