Hi guys & gals,

New to the forum here and Bonnevilles in general. I'm looking to purchase either a slighty used 2006 Bonnie or new 2007. In any of your experiences, is there a dramatic difference in the amount of power between the two engine sizes? In essence, hoping to justify the price difference between low mileage "older" model and a brand new one. It looks like the difference would be about a grand or so. Or should I spend the extra cash just to get the cc increase. Any thoughts (pros or cons) would surely be appreciated. Thanks!

if you are looking at 2006 and 2007's they are both 865cc's, or at least that is what I heard.

On the 2006's the regular Bonnies are 790cc & the T100 is an 865cc. Bob.

The '06 standard Bonnies are 790's, t100's are the bigger motor. The '07's are all 865's. I own 2 790's and rode an 865 fairly extensively before I bought. Unless you are really looking for it, for 90% of riding conditions, you wont notice a big diff, except high in the rev band. Don't over think it. Find the best deal...but definitely get one!

I love my 790!! I think the only difference is where thr torque comes in? The 790 is a higher revving engine as well w/ hotter cams. As said- get the best deal but GET ONE!

I recently purchased an 06 Bonnie Black. Rode both at the dealership and didn't notice a difference at all, although I'm sure there is a slight difference. To give you an idea of the FUN factor on this bike, I traded in a VTX 1800C to get a 790CC Bonnie. You won't be dissapointed in this engine unless your looking for sport bike performance. And if you were you'd be looking at a sportbike........................... I agree get the best deal you can but either WILL MAKE YOU SMILE.

There are those who spend hundreds on mods that increase power by single digit amounts. If you are one of those by the '07.

I couldn't tell much of a difference between the two stock engines and bought a new '05 790 in '06 and love it. I spent the money difference on accessories that I wanted.

Like CAPTDON said.790 cam comes on strong in the topend.865 tuned more for bottom end.
Buy the 790 and NARK it + exhuast plus a 905cc big bore kit with the money you have saved and you ll have the best of everything.

After airbox and pipe mod (with appropriate jetting) the 865 starts to show its extra 5 inches...

My 06 Thruxton is a 865cc. I thought they were all 865's. My bad.
