My girlfriend has been eying the bonnie even since I got the Thrux. She loves my bike and would buy her own but she is vertically challenged and has difficulty riding it because of the seat hight. Is the bonnie's seat hight much different? I'm sure this is a loaded question but Is there a remedy for this problem? I feel bad for her....

Not sure if the Bonneville is lower than the Thruxton, but I lowered my 2002 Bonnie about an inch with shorter shocks and raising the fork tubes. I would think you could also lower it more by shaving some foam off the seat. You didn't say how tall she is, but I'm 5'5". Another thing is would the weight be a problem for her?

Forget lowering the bike. Have her get the Bonnie and when you break up, she'll give it to you since it was too tall for her anyway. :-D

I haven't noticed any diff in Ride height on either bike. Was hoppin on an off both at my local dealer. seeing which one I could live with the best.

I have deceided its the Bonnie. Already have a sport bike any way.

My sugeestion is Get wifey a Riding Course and then she should be better able to handle the bike...

Trust me.. I teach Motorcycle courses up here and it helps the ladies alot. Builds confidence and skill that they should be ok. Had a gal that just got a '69 Bonnie for her 1st bike. an thats a kicker only baby.

How tall is your lady? maybe the only issue.

The Bonneville seat height is about an inch lower than the Thrux due to shorter shocks. As Loxpump says, even shorter shocks and raising the fork legs in the triple clamps will make the bike lower still (at the small expense of some cornering clearance). A narrower seat such as the Norman Hyde Solo or a Corbin will help, too.

thanx for the feedback. she is 5'4" which means she is on her toes on the thrux, makes me nervous ...She has taken the course so she is getting fairly confident about handling the bike, but she doesn't want it to be such a chore when she comes to a stop. She almost dropped my bike once but she proved to be quite strong and saved it. Of course i had to massage the pulled back muscles that night, but a small price to pay for no damage to the ride. :-D I would love to see her on a bonnie but thinking the seat hight needs to be about 25"-28" max for her to be comfortable. might have to look at an america if modding the bonnie doesn't interest her.

I lowered my thruxton-04 25mm ( 1") front and back because I am short and the only problem is the sidestand.
Cut 12mm ( 1/2") and weld together. No problems at all.
You can see my bike in my photo album.

I agree with Sheepdog and think that you should consider a different seat on the Bonneville. The Triumph, Corbin, and Norman Hyde (and others, I suppose) all make solo seats that all sit lower than the stock one.

According to Triumph's website (and they should know) the Bonnie's seat is 30.5" off the deck; the Thrux's seat is 31.1" high.

The seat on the Rocket is 29.1" !!!!!

The SPEEDIE is lower still.
