I'd like to change my air filter to a hi-flow unit any suggestions on which one works best? I don't want pod filters.

Thanks!

K&N will last a life time.Unifilter cheaper but probably only good for 10 years.

I've had the K&N for two years and have been impressed with the relative ease of caring for it. You don't really have to clean it very often unless you live in a pretty dirty or dusty environment, although with the salt air of FL, you might wish to clean it more frequently. With the K&N cleaner and recharger kit, you just spray the cleaner on, let it sit, then rinse it off thoroughly and let it air dry. Then when dry, you apply a very small amount of red-colored oil to the top of each pleat ridge and let it sit. I've seen spray oil applicators, but the squeeze bottle is much better. After awhile, you check the filter for any remaining white areas, touch them up with oil and stick the filter back in. I was afraid it would be difficult to determine if I had oiled it enough or too much, but they give you clear directions and there is more help on the website. It was cake cleaning and re-oiling it. And I didn't have to buy a new filter. Suggestion--whichever one you get, think about getting either the Jenks Rubber Bellmouth, the Norman Hyde Bellmouth, or the new Jenks Velocity Stack (bellmouth). I had installed Hyde Classic silencers and rejetted with my K&N filter, but it really wasn't until I took out the snorkel and replaced it with a bellmouth (side cover stays on) that I got some noticeable performance gains.

Paper filters are disposable and foam filters can be washed, oiled and reused. The pod or uni status is not relevant.

Badrufus is right on about the K&N and the Bellmouth. I use the Uni-Filter in a similar setup. The only diff is that the Uni may be cleaned with dish detergent (though it still has to be treated with filter oil).
