My 02 Bonnieville has a slight problem, when you let go of the throttle, it no return. Please help, going on vacation in two weeks and need it fixed before the wife rides it.

Thanks all...

When I had this problem with my Bonnie (and my Ducati before it), it was caused by the twist-grip fouling on the handlebar end cap. Loosen the screws clamping the throttle/brake assembly to the handlebar and move it slightly away from the end cap. Tighten the screws and hopefully the twist-grip will spring back as before.

When I've had this problem it came on overnight with no obvious cause. The first time I spent ages dismantling the twist-grip assembly, lubricating it and various other relevant bits and pieces and it worked OK, until I replaced the end cap. That's when I twigged the cause.

Hope this helps.

If you have aftermarket bars you may have to route the cable. The m-bars put to much of a bend in the cable for it to slide freely.

It could be a broken or frayed cable.

I'm a sayin the bar ends too. On the Gixxer I screw them on too tight when going on long highway trips. causes the throttle to bind a bit. Acts like a thottle lock.. I say loosen the bar ends and see if its ok....

Should be good.

BTW saving my pennies for a New Bonnie.

All said is rite on. Didnt know wy it happenned O/N but now think from prognosis it got bumped by something? Worst part is when you turn left & the engine throttles up! Scary!!!
We just took all apart - lubed & put back together & it was fine. Did move the assembly back a little w/ made the difference. :hammer: :???:

Thanks for the help; it was the throttle assembly binding against the end cap. Adjusted the throttle assembly works great.

Thanks Again..
