Regarding my new Scrambler: I love it, but . . . the stock B'stone Trail Wings are a bit too knobby for my taste. They look great on the bike, and I suppose that they are good tires (good enough for the BMW GS). I don't care for the thrumming at speed and I really don't like the feeling they give when cornering. When they are on the edge blocks, it feels a little squirmy. So, fellow Scramblers, any ideas for replacements? Any good (or bad) experiences with any particular tire? As I said, I like the look, but I don't like the ride. I am open for suggestion.

A note: my last bike (which I still have and is currently for sale - $3K o.b.o) is the '97 Sprint. The B'stone BattleAx tires handle well, indeed. My latest frame of reference.

Oh, Yeah, one other thing . . . any experience in increasing the size of the tires above stock?

I run the Metzler Torrance, stock size, on my 06 Scrambler. The difference it makes to the bike is amazing.

+1 on the Metzler Torrances. They keep the stock appearance of the bike but are the single biggest performance mod I've done. I find myself leaning harder, braking harder, and taking turns faster.

I've been thinking about replacing my tires as well. I'll probably go with the Tourances.

I've 'heard' that you can run two sizes over the stock size. I plan on running a 110 front and 140 rear using the radial Tourances.

I see where the tourance is still considered an enduro tire, does it change the ride on the road much or improve it on both road and limited off road?

Also, can you put tubeless tires on or do you have to stay w/ the tubes?

I didn't like the TrailWings at all either. Front seem ok, but the rear didn't like to lean much without wanting to move around. I'm putting these on next week. 100/90-19 front, 140/80-17 rear... $212.00 shipped to my door from Motorcycle-Superstore. btw, the 140 is fine for the 3.5" rim according to Dunlop's website.

Let me know how you like the Dunlops...I am starting to suspect my Pirelli Sport Demons of causing my headshake.

My sport demons stick like glue and cause NO ILL EFFECTS - other than me riding faster than I should. Maybe your headshake is caused by the loose nut behind the handlebars?

And, it could be Scramblers don't like Pirelli Sport Demons. Or, Sport Demons don't like Scramblers. Or, that Scramblers are more picky than Bonnies or Thruxs about the rubber they bring home.
