OK, I couldn't resist. After considering buying a Triumph for a while now I got serious a few weeks ago and started researching. Well, this afternoon I bought a new '06 Bonnie Black after test riding one at the Cummings, GA dealership. The demo bike had no performance upgrades but mine is getting the TORs, AI removal, and Dynojet kit. The tech said he would modify the snorkel or remove it based on the best tune performance. They are nice people at Machines in Motion and they did give me the price they quoted - no gimmicks, no funny business, nothing. I saw the new bike still in the crate - VIN number with a J and all... OTD price with the mods, freight/setup, tax/tag/title came to $7700.
Have to say that the bike was really fun, even in stock form. Compared to my '05 Sportster, the Bonnie handled head and shoulders better and shifted so much smoother. Stock, the Bonnie ran better too, but the stock Bonnie isn't quite as powerful as my Sporty with the stage one upgrades. I imagine with the performance mods on the Bonnie it will be back ahead of my Sporty in the acceleration and power categories. Throwing the bike around in the corners was a breeze compared to the Sporty. I couldn't believe how much better it handled. The braking was better than I expected.
I have to say I still give the overall quality marks to the Sporty and the controls (speedo, switches, indicator lights, etc) on the Sporty and way better. And I've NEVER had a problem with the fork lock on my Sporty, though I seldom feel I need to use it where live and ride.
I am 43 and few things really get me excited, but I am really excited about taking delivery next week and seeing how she runs with the upgrades. I considered keeping the Sporty for 2-up cruising but with two pre-teen children the wife and I seldom get to ride and I don't really need 2 bikes. The Sporty goes up for sale this weekend.
Glad to be a part of the family. have to say reading this forum has has made my decision even easier. At first I thought I may just make a few performance mods but I can see that I will be changing a few things up. I really like the retro look but there are some things I am going to want to change. I'll be considering a second seat here soon and adding a tach kit. Probably the shocks, petcock, pegs will get changed out too.
On the way to the dealership I happened to see someone with Illinois plates riding a T100. First one I've seen on the road in a long while. It's going to be nice to be riding something that's not so everyday.
Greg

Congratulations!
I’m right there with you. I just bought my first Triumph a couple of weeks ago. 07 Bonnie Blk but I’m still waiting for it to arrive. Grrrr… man, it’s costing me waiting. I keep adding stuff to my list the more I read this board. But seriously this board is a fantastic wealth of knowledge and has made this an exciting purchase.
I’m 43 also and have been a HD rider for the past 12 years or so and I will keep my softail too. But something about the Bonnie really started calling me, so I pulled the trigger.
Enjoy!

I think you'll be surprised at how nice it is to ride a relatively uncommon bike. I've had a black and white T100 for two years and still love it, but the Bonnie Black is a stunner. While I was in the dealer's office, still torn between the T100 and the Bonnie Black, a fella walked in and handed him cash for the BB. My decision was made much easier. Enjoy. Hey, if you take the snorkel out, think about getting some type of bellmouth. Three choices (1) Jenks adaptation of the Polaris bellmouth (2) Norman Hyde bellmouth and (3) Jenks "velocity stack" bellmouth. They smooth out the airflow into the filter. You also might want to think about a K&N or Uni replacement filter, although one of those may be part of the Dynojet kit(?)

Welcome!!

Greg - congrats! I just got my 2007 Bonne Black last Tuesday and had them put on the whole performance package with Predator pipes with zero miles. I have 45 on her now - can't wait to get back out there. Your gonna love it!

Congrats Greg! I just recently purchased my Bonnie Black last month and have a lot of the same feelings about my bike as well. I live downtown Atlanta and it's a much easier ride around town than my previous Vulcan Classic 1600! LOL.
See you on the road mate.
