I just noticed that my headlight lens is cracked on my 04 thruxton. I called my local dealer and was told that Triumph does not offer just the lens; i have to buy the complete headlight assembly for $200.
I know that Rabers in San Jose carries just the lens for the old Triumphs. Does anyone know if the the old 7" lens will fit the new headlights? does anyone have a line on where I might find just the outer lens?

Hard to believe Triumph doesn't sell just the glass lens.

Mar...have you considered a sealed-beam headlamp? Many of us have purchased the Sylvania H6024 XV extra vision headlights from vendors like Autozone for about $15.
Better light (brighter) than the stock light and it takes about 15 to 20 minutes to replace.
I'm assuming that the Thruxton and Bonnie head lamps are identical at 7", but don't know for sure...maybe someone else can verify this.

Mar...plug and play. You'll have to disconnect the (2) wires running to the parking lamp since the sealed beam doesn't have one. I just taped mine up with electrical tape and left them rolled up in the housing.

My garage mate broke his on day 1. Thedealer sent him a new one @no cost. The sealed beam sounds like the way to go tho!! The stock lite isnt very good.

The other alternative is to get a 7" Cibie replacement headlight that uses the H4 bulb at Dan Stern. It's the high/low beam with parking light. Bulb for parking light can be found at any auto parts store. I also installed a PIAA Extreme White anti-vibration H4 bulb, from Whitehorse.

Hi,
my dealer talked me into buying one of these:the POWERS THAT BE in my corner of the world are thinking hard to improve road safety and may make the use of headlights during daytime mandatory for ALL vehicles (as it is already in Sweden ). Right now only MC have to.
Philips, their light bulbs be praised , did their own thinking and made up a H4 bulb wich gives better lighting ( i'll be...it does! )
and has an orange glare in it. My bonnie now has one bloodshot eye...It should help to make bikes more obvious in the mass of lights, possibly to make targeting easier...
grtz,Thieu

I almost forgot: whenever changing a light bulb on the bonnie do take care not to break off the little plastic spring retainer; it'll fracture by merely looking at it. I gave it ONE worried look and it desintegrated. Not wanting to spend $200 on a new headlight assembly I used a bit of brain and a lot of search for the perfect screw in my- "I'm gettin' rid of this junk first thing tomorrow, dear"-
supply. Didn't even need to drill a hole, looks OK.

:-D ,Thieu.
