So, my turn signal relay burned out--no signals. I called up the local dealership and learned that the stock Hella replacement costs $65. Ouch, I said.
No kidding, the guy on the phone said. He then told me I might be able to find another brand relay at the local auto parts store. He said the Hella relay is a standard 3-prong relay but make sure that the new one is either for 10-watt bulbs or is variable load. I guess a lot of other bikes use 20-watt bulbs and the relays are built for that. If I tried one of those relays on a 10-watt Bonnie there wouldn't be enough juice to trip the relay and make the lights flash, they'd just glow steady.
Anyway, I went down the street to Napa Auto Parts, did a little talkin' with the guy behind the counter and we found one: Napa brand "Electronic Flasher, EP-36." Plugged it in and everything works fine.
The best part: $14. Ride on!
