Oh*****, my pipes are blue! What can I do to stop this?!!
Ha, just kidding. I know the drill. The blue rocks.
So yesterday I took receipt of my '07 aluminum silver Bonnie. Needless to say I love it. I won't go on waxing poetic about everything, 'cause most of you already know what's great about the bike. But one of the best parts (so far) is when I met my parents for dinner last night- towards the end of the meal, I suggested that my dad take her for a spin around the neighborhood. He had a BSA in the '70s (he's 56 and I'm 26). Before the words were even out of my mouth, he jumped up and said "Lemme go get my jeans, I've been waiting to hear that!"
And everything is running like I expected it to. Really feels like it was meant to be ridden. Here's something that I'm curious about, though: Do any of you find that you ever lock the forks down in general parking situations? My dad strongly suggested it for security, but to tell the truth, I never really considered it.
That's it for questions (for now at least, haha). I found this site to be extremely helpful over the last couple of months as I was researching everything. Now I'm just riding and waiting for the service manual to arrive, so I can get my knuckles dirty when the need arises. Thanks, and see ya all around!

Congrats! There have been endless threads on here about the fork locks. It is 50-50 as to who hates it and who uses it. Many of us have had the fork lock malfunction and take a half hour to open. Others have no problems. If you are going to use it, make sure you test it at home and get the feel first. Then I would suggest a bit of oil to make sure it does not stick. Then always be prepared that it may not unlock easily sometime down the road. Sorry for the downer, but that is the truth. Mine was fine for a month and then got stuck for 25 mins. If I parked outside frequently, I'd look into getting a breaklock or something instead. That is one of my only complaints about my bike.
Enjoy the Ride.

According to many, fork locks = grief. Good luck with the scooter.

Congrats on the new bike! Pics?
If you do a search for fork locks you'll find many stories of stranded riders, broken keys, and embarrassing moments. I'm pretty sure that a pro won't be stopped by the fork lock anyway. IMO, save yourself the trouble.
Cheers!

I don't use the fork lock, but I have a Kryptonite lock and a Xena disc lock/alarm and lock the discs.
I use one or the other or both depending on where I park!
Cheers

I'm with you brother! I just picked up my Black Bonne on Tuesday night. Rode it home 45 miles and haven't been back on her yet - we are moving my office so no time and by the end of the day I am exhausted. I will go out on Sunday with the wife. Enjoy your new ride!

Here's a couple of pics. It's bone stock right now, and I think it'll stay that way at least for a bit, but I figured that there weren't too many photos of the silver around here, so here goes.
I'll be installing my center stand this weekend, it just came in today. And I'm also thinking that a brown seat would look great with the silver, but I couldn't find any pics, so here's a quick and not excellent (but workable) photoshop job:
It would be a contemporary seat, so obviously it's a slightly different shape, but I think the color combo in the photo is pretty rad.
