Well I have a few choices on the Speedmaster front, A 2003 model with under 3000 miles on clock, that will be a 790cc , and a 2006 model, 0 miles for £1500 more. Is the 865 engine the way to go. I would be tuning either engine so would the benefits be noticeably different. I would probably run a 19 tooth g/box output sprocket with free breathing carbs & exhaust.

Cammy, I have had both and prefer the 865, not sure why as there isn't really a lot of difference. I feel it is a bit more torquey and I like being able to feel that extra bit of grunt.. I would never never ever give up my 865 Speedy, I have to say there is something about this particular model that has me hooked, probably for life...

I have read lots of posts where folks prefer the 790 'cos it responds better to modifications (enlarge capacity????).

No doubt there will be a lot of banter both ways, when it all boils down it's your preference, and maybe bank account.

Wise words Binnsy, I like more torque too. But the pounds & pence will dictate, & the 790 is more susceptible to mods,as you say, that 790 looks very clean in Auto Trader, and low milage, black/ red, standard as it seems from photo, will go and see it Friday. watch this space....

£1500?? That's $2,900 bucks for those of us on this side of the pond...

Grab the 790 if it's a nice clean bike. For that kind of money, you could put a 904 kit in it & still have a bunch of cash left over.
