Recently I got some scratches on the front of my front fender (2004 Black and White T100). After considering the damage it seems a touch-up-job is not likely to give a good enough result.

So, I consider either buying a new black fender or maybe even a new chromed one (for that retro look). But, as the 2004 fenders are metal I wonder if there are any other possibilities (exept for a repaint-job which is probably more expensive than a new fender).

It is possible to sand-down and polish for a shiny-metal finish? How do you do it?

Or does anybody have any other ideas?

Looking forward to your input.

Well, it's metal so it will rust. If the scratches are towards the end why not cut a few inches of the fender off( bob it). Theres a link in the WIKI on how to do that, just a Dremel tool and touchup paint. I'm thinkinging doing mine. I will be doing the rear as soon as I get another taillight setup.
