I read on somebody's thread that they needed to balance the carbs or have a dyno after the AI yank....and rejetting. Is that true? My settings seem fine..It sounds and runs good,is it possible that it might not be? (Performance-wise)I'm sitting at 3 Turns(double checked) is that adequate? Had scant traces of Black carbon on steel plugs before I went to Iridium. Am I thinking right then that I may not have a lean condition going on ? I hope someone knows. :???:

3 turns sounds like a good starting point maybe less if you have stock pipes. You will need to balance your carbs. The vacume for the AI system is only off one carb thus that carb is now drawing more vaccume.

Thats the carb#2 that I put the nipple plug on isn't it,from the AI kit.Erwin ,did you mercury balance yours yourself? Is this something that I can do myself with a Merc. Carb . Bal. Gauge? If I take it in it's about 200mi. to the nearest dealer. There is a Dyno in town-apparently one state of the art deal, for Hot Rod Bikes...... I knew that I read that on a thread ,perhaps yours. I have Thunderbike Pipes.

Balancing, or synchronizing carbs is not difficult, especially on a bike with only two carbs. You can either build a carb balancer yourself or buy one. These threads provide info on building one yourself:
DIY Carb Balancer
DIY Carb Balance Photos
If you buy one, you can get either mercury carb tuner or something like the Morgan Carbtune. I had a set of Motion Pro carb sticks for 15 years and just bought the CarbTune:
Motion Pro Mercury Carb Synchronizers
Morgan CarbTune
Then read how to do it here:
Pat's Carb Synchronizing Instructions
It's good to learn how to do it and have a good tool for synching, as it's something you'll need to do as part of routine maintenance. Once you learn how to do it, you won't even think of taking it 200 miles for a dealer to do it.

Looks like badrufus set you up with all the balance info you need. And yes you can do it yourself no sweat. I used a merc balancer which I bought from newspeedmaster.com. Its simple to do. Well worth the price if the balancer. give it a shot. No you wont hurt anything without balancing your carbs. You might feel some hesitation at low throttle settings. As for airmix turns I have TB pipes and started with 3 turns and currently at 3.5 with TBS needles.

carb imbalance will give you some vibration if its very far off, and a little power loss. it can be donw after you get some experiance with how its done and such by feel.
good luck.
