As I sit here at my desk at 9:28am all I can think about is picking up my new Bonne Black this afternoon as soon as I get out of work. I have already arranged to have my wife drive me down to Libby's and follow me the long way home while I break her in. I'm thinking about taking US 1 for the first 20 miles and giver her a lot of start and stop speed variations and some hard RPMs between shifts. Then I will bring her onto I-95 and head back home. I plan on doing an oil and filter change after 50 miles to get rid of any metal that has come off her virgin insides and landed inside the filter. Then I will change her again at 500 miles. I have already shot the lock off the wallet and had them put on the following mods as soon as it is uncrated:
Predetors
Air Box Elimination Kit
Air Injection Elimination Kit
Jets
Nology Hot Wires
Nology Pro Fire Coil
2 NKG Iridium spark plugs
Tach conversion
Center stand
Triumph All weather cover
I have no idea what to expect but I have butterflies in my stomach! I am open to any and all suggestions for the maximum enjoyment and care of my first Triumph!
John

Congrats!! Id leave the breakin oil in till the 500 mi rec change. It will let it breakin better! Then put in some high quality rec M/C synthetic. The bike has dino oil in it to aid breakin. I ran mine up & down the rpm range till 350 mi then started riding it like I was gonna ride it in shorter bursts. Took it to 115 1x for a little extra breakin for a short burst. The worstthing you can do is run it @ constant speed. 2+ yrs & 6500 miles later she just runs bettrer every day! Good luck- you will love it!!Wait till you start gathering crowds @ the gas station. :-D

congrats - and you're in my neighborhood!
how was the service at Libby's? I got mine from Branchville (in Ridgefield) and haven't been up to Libby's yet.

Congratulations! You will have a blast. I've got just over 1,000 on mine now, heading out for my first real road trip tomorrow. One thing I'm enjoying is spacing out some of my mod's. That way I get a "new" bike every couple months or so.
Ciao for now
Roger

Congratulations and good luck. Nice list of options, and great choices. I have a new Bonnie Black, with only the Roadster Shield as an add-on later. I agree, leave that break-in oil in until the 500 mile stage. The microscopic metal particles produced during the initial miles assist in the proper wear-in of parts.
I'm a new rider, 55 years old. Thankfully I live in the very far western fringe of Chicagoland (one might say in the "sticks"), therefore I have immeduiate access to a variety of nice country/farm roads to drive on and learn. I took the MSF Weekend course - the paid one, not the free one, and felt it was very worthwhile for a newbie.
Absolutely love the Bonneville, and try to ride every night and during the weekends.
Lot's of "Psychodrivers" out there, what's with them??

Nix the AI right away. I'd wait on the pipes until after break in. Other than that, you seem to be going in the right direction. Have fun, it is the coolest little bike around!

I don't think you're gonna hurt anything swapping pipes right away. If you are jetting properly, the engine will run as it should and break in correctly. I agree with leaving the oil in until 500 miles. Changing it out at 50 will not allow enough abrasion.
Enjoy your new toy!

I hope you rode a stock one first so you have something to measure all your mods. against.
The reality is this is the way they should leave the factory but the "fun police" wont allow that.
