I recently put a center stand on my thruxton with D&Ds and had the exact same dilemma. I actually ended up using the supplied rubber bumper that is supposed to be installed on the stock pipe, and the hard plastic extender that's the same size through it. I had to drill a 1/2" hole in the right spot where the center stand contacts the bottom of the muffler, and it took a little work and a flat head screwdriver but got the rubber bumper in the hole then put the hard plastic extender through it, making it impossible for the bumper to come out. It did seem crazy to drill a hole in a brand new 200.00 center stand, but at that part of the pipe it doesn't get hot enough to melt the plastic part. I rode about 50 miles at 80+, got off the bike and pulled the center stand down and the plastic was merely warm to the bare finger. Works like a charm, kept it clear of the chain and doesn't harm the pipe. Also, I bent the sidestand buffer out bit to clear the center stand when it goes down, and it's still catching the sidestand fine. I'll try to take some pictures today. I used a small bit to get the hole centered, then went to the 1/2" bit. The foot lever part of the center stand still seems plenty strong, and it's suprisingly easy to get the bike up onto the stand. Hope that made sense, attempt at your own risk though. I'd have hated it if I had ruined a brand new center stand drilling on it.
