I recently bought a 2006 demo (Scrambler) it had about 380 miles on it, had TORs and the handlebar pipe/pad. The bike was discounted 1000- and the above options were about 1/2 off plus it had the full 2 yr warranty.

Plus, I had the 1st maintainence done for free.

Demos can be your friend.

Good luck,
Dave-

I didn't know about the possibility of a warranty. That definitely makes me a bit more interested in this bike. Now, if it were only a green one... (my favorite is the standard Bonnie in green).

I bought my bonneville as a demo, and got the full warranty. I have had not problems with it.

I'd think the typical Bonnie buyer would be less susceptible to thrash a demo bike , than say a Gixxer or hooligan bike buyer.. :???:

My main concern with buying a demo - how is it broken in..?

My friendgirl is looking for a Bonnie and we checked out an '01 last night that the guy had bought as a demo when it was "new." He said there's been no problems. It's at 7,500 miles and I took it out for a while last night and it seemed fantastic. She ended up buying the bike and I feel really good about her decision.

My bike was a demo - bought the '05 790cc demo with 686 miles on it, brand new with a factory warranty starting the day I bought it. It's been an absolute gem, and the best part is I didn't have to suffer through break-in. I got a nice discount on the essentially new bike, and of course although demos are probably broken in harder than bikes bought with 0 miles, they're also thoroughly inspected and maintained by professional mechanics. Finally, I have kind of come to believe in hard break-ins - if the rings seat for 3000 rpms and lower, then what happens when you finally push the engine to 7000 rpms?

The big sign I was watching for was oil level - if oil level drops, it indicates a bad break-in since it means the rings didn't fully seat. My bike has shown no signs of oil level dropping. Other than the rings, there should be no potential problems from a demo-bike break-in cycle. Make ABSOLUTELY sure that the dealer can produce documentation for the mandatory servicings that happened before you took delivery - not only because they guarantee good warranty coverage, but because it shows that the dealer was as meticulous with the bike as they'll expect you to be and that they followed all appropriate procedures.

$5K for a 2005 bike with a full two-year warranty and just a couple thousand miles sounds like a dream come true! Enjoy the bike!

My bike was also a demo and also agree with the comments. They often come w/ good mods, a lower price and the same factory warranty plus its been broken in.

The Bonnie that I got was used and abused But I look at it this way; If she held up for the first 12,000 miles, there's nothing more I can do to harm her! :hammer:

Probably going to try to look at it on Wednesday if I can fit it in. I figure it's at least worth a look, even if I'm not quite ready to pull the trigger yet.
