I know you have all probably heard of love bugs, but some of you up North may have never experienced them in person. They don't bite, they don't make any noise. They just fly around fornicating and annoying the bejesus out of me. They have been so bad this weekend that I have not wanted to ride because I am tired of having green juice in my teeth and cleaning my bike for 4 hours after a ride. I went fishing Saturday instead of riding, but they followed me out there too. Here's a video of the buggers. As you can see from the video, they are everywhere and part of living in Florida for 3-4 weeks a year. Welcome to Florida. If want to wear a half helmet, bring your floss. :-D
Oh yeah, and I didn't get completely shut out.

The joy of living in Idaho is nothing that big. If there were there would be a hunting season for them.

I drove (4-wheels plus a trailer) from L. A. to New Orleans and Sarasota FL and back a couple of weeks ago and learned first hand what a pain in the ass "love bugs" are. I would hate to ride through them.

TCL - you forgot to mention how their green juices is like acid to your paint if you don't wash it off.

SOB's, for the second time in 3 days just spent 45 minutes cleaning the bugs off the front of my truck. Took a trip up to north florida for the weekend. Glad I didn't ride.

But they love you !! Be nice. Just kidding they suck big time!!!!!! Been dealing w/ them here for a while now. They seem to be tapering off @ times. I only ride now when thwere is a sea breeze & along the river or ocean. They can really ruin your day espec when you go out & they arent there- then poof out they come!! A bud took his test the other day in WPB. I told him to take a work mask. It came in real handy. So too did the windbreaker ( washable w/ the hose). The bike a different story! Hey they be gone soon WE HOPE!!!! Ill put this guy on the front of the bike> :hammer:

In roughly another two weeks, the June bugs will be here. A kind of scarab beetle that you don't want to encounter without a solid face shield. I won't claim to be an insect expert, but someone told me that the reason they seem to fly around bashing into things is related to how they mate. After bashing into the side of a building, they drop the ground and go wandering around for a mate--kinda sounds like a singles' bar.
