I have been lurking here for a while and have come to the decision that a black and red T100 is the next bike. I have received lots of good information and advice by following the various discussion threads.

So I go for a test ride today and ask the dealer for the number. Here are the extras I want to add. TORs, AI removal and Heritage Tank Badges. With that set up and TTL, the number is $10 large.

That seems a bit rich to me (especially for one with a T in the serial number) so I tell the dealer "uh...I gotta think about it". I know he has some inventory and I know he has to make some money on the deal too but that is really full list for everything based on my calculation.

Do these really sell for full MSRP? Is there any negotiating room? If so, what is the common percentage discount off of MSRP would one expect?

Any advice on this is appreciated.

Thanks

Kendall

I paid $9k out the door for my T100 with no modifications whatsoever. $10k seems a bit high, but now that I love my bike so much, I probably would have paid $10k if they asked. I'd say $9500 is probably fair with TORs and labor. Tell them what you are willing to pay and that you don't want to shop them because you want to use your local dealership and show some loyalty, but you will go looking in the next town if they can't come up with a fair price.

Hard to believe how much variation there can be between dealers. Buddy of mine saved close to $2000 by driving 4 hours, thats a hunk of change and I would do the same. The local dealer generally gets what he asks and therefore sees no reason to drop trow. I guess if you can make the same profit selling 10 bikes that the other folks make selling 20 then it does make sense from a purely finacial standpoint.

I would think you should be able to get it for $9500 like TCL said, not sure I would go to $10k unless it is with maybe a helmet and jacket, if your in need. Sometimes they are more willing to let gear go in a deal.

Good luck and yeah, now that I have been riding my Bonneville for over a year, it would have been worth it if it were $10K but save the cash if you can man! Cause your gonna want more stuff from www.newbonneville.com for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Price varies greatly, between regions, but also within the same regions. Some dealers start from MSRP and negotiate a little, some start from MSRP + "delivery and set-up charges" and do or don't negotiate, some start from MSRP and throw in some extras or at least do the labor free on parts like TORS ordered at the same time as you buy the bike. Some dealers will deal, others will not deal at all. Frankly, unless you get completely soaked (like MSRP + $600 delivery and set-up + labor charged for parts you order at time of purchase), I think it's more important to get the bike you want from a dealer known for good service. Even if you do much of your own service, you need someone who will be good for warranty work if necessary and for repairs and maintenance that you don't want to tackle.

Too much. $8300 for the bike, $0 for freight and setup ( my dealers charge), Tors and badges from Motorcycle Accessory Discount Super store, $368.01 and $ 65.99 with no shipping if ordered on a Friday ( LINK , AI from New Bonneville $25.00. That should give you some numbers to work with. for a counter offer.

Do it! Do it! Do it! The $ won't mean sheet once you're out the door and on it. You'll be wondering why they didn't charge double. :-D

Well, black and red IS the fastest color. I paid $8500, out the door two weeks ago (2007 with J in VIN). Amazing how much it varies between dealers The dealer nearest to my home wanted $9600. I'd hold off on ANY modifications until the 500 mile service. You'd be amazed how much better it runs and sounds after that service. I'm leaving mine totally stock cause I'm really happy with it now. Remember when looking at these replies that sales tax rates varie between states. Its 3% here in NC

Sounds kinda rich here too? I hung out in the showroom for 4 hrs. The bike I wanted had been sold, so I was speckin a Black. Finally the dealer caled me in the office & saih chrome pkg @ cost-no labor & X OTD. It worked for me! So here it still is in the garage. Id work it a little- its kinda rich. No shipping, prep etc here. Just the sales tax. Good choice tho!!

Theres nothing worse than buying something then finding out how good the deals were somewhere else. But trying to get the BEST deal i feel creates an unhealthy hesitation and can overshadow the experience of new bonnie ownership. It was an emotive and experiential purchase more than it was a financial one for myself (but a good deal was still a high priority)

I thought id shopped around extensively, and was pretty happy with the deal i got on a demo model, but rode with a few blokes recently who'd paid over $2k less than i did. And we're only talking a few dealers in our wider area.

Wrong day, different sales people, that word sucker burnt into my forehead.......must have been something, but as pabonne said - when im on the bike, or even just perving on it in the driveway over a beer, i soon forget about how better the deal couldve been somewhere else.

it really is all good - and having this forum to learn from and share the experience with cannot be underestimated as well.

Thanks for the advice. Tax is 6.25% here so that will run up the cost a bit. I think maybe $9500 and throw in a bit of free gear like a jacket will make the deal work.

I have known the dealer for a long time - he used to keep my 1976 KZ 900 running so I do want to support him. I do want him to make some money to stay in business so after I have owned it a while, a couple of hundred bucks more or less on the price is no big deal.

Thanks again

Kendall
