So my 500 mile service sneaked up real quick on me...

The dealership and my owners manual are about 100 miles away from me, so I figure I'll do the oil change myself.

I am wondering if anyone can tell me what kind of oil (and how many quarts) and filter I need to get that I can find at nappa or some other auto parts store.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

napa HAS IT ALL Gold 1358 filter. Oil- look in your book.there are other filters- many that will work.Use a good synthetic MC 15-50 20-50.

Use Mobil 1 "V-Twin" fully synthetic oil. Its what is used by my dealership and its pretty dern close to the specs of the Mobil 1 racing 4T listed in the manual. You can't get the Mobil 1 15W-50 here in the states unless Triumph orders it for you. The V-Twin oil is 20W-50, so its a tad higher in viscosity, but during the summer months (and year round for me here in Louisiana) that extra weight is no problem. If you are unsure you can always call and ask the dealership what they would use, and if the V-twin is suitable (they will say yes).

I got the Mobil 1 "V-Twin" oil here at a shop called Hog Heaven, a locally owned Harley shop (not a dealer). The stuff cost about 9 bucks a quart, but I wanted to make sure to stick with Triumph specified oil.

Since your bike is still under warranty, you should order your oil filter from Triumph. That way your closest dealership has records that you actually did use Triumph parts. In the event that something goes bad with your bike, if your using after market parts, they can possibly blame the malfunction to the non-Triumph part, rendering the warranty useless. This is what my dealership told me (I bought my Triumph about 300 miles away).

Check out this link from Mobil regarding oil:

Hope that helps.
Paul
