Hello Everyone,
I have searched some of the messages in this forum regarding Norman Hyde Toga silencers, as sold at newbonneville.com.
I hear everyone talking about other silencers as well, but I really wanted something that looked close to stock. I have also read great things about the NH quality.
Does anyone have photos of the NH's on their Bonnie they could post here?
Also, how would you describe the sound? Presently I have the Triumph "off road" silencers on the bike, but to me they leave something to be desired.
At the same time, I dont really want my bike to sound like some crazy Harley.
Thanks and I apologize if this topic is a bit redundant.
Paul

NH Togas will make it sound like a Bonneville from the 60's not like a Harley

I am sick of these posts.
If you want something that looks close to stock with amazing quality, that sound absolutely awesome; get Staintunes.

Yes Bruin, I figured someone would be "sick of these posts" and is the reason I apologized for the redundant subject matter.
But thanks.

Paul another route you could go are the Sprint mufflers which you could buy as a package or get EMGO 60's style burgess mufflers (same thing) from a vintage Triumph parts dealer (they bolt right on). I put the EMGO's on my Bonnie black for around $200. The quality of the staintunes from what I have read is the best around but for the price I could find a lot of better things to spend that kind of money on such as food and gas!

I don't have a photo, but I rode with a guy who had them on his bonnie t 100 and they looked and sounded great....Go for them...you can always sell them here in the classified if they're not for you, but I bet you'll love them....

I was impressed with both the quality and the sound of the Togas. I ordered mine "in the white" (uncoated--prior to plating) and they were very smooth at all the seams. I had mine black ceramic coated prior to mounting. They may not show up too well in my pics. :-D The closest thing I have heard to the sound is the Predators, but they are the reverse cone type.
Toga, Toga, Toga :-D :-D :-D

I have no pics but the Togas far superseded my expectations.
I've had Triumphs From 50's speed twin to 60s Bonnie's & 70's Bonnie's and, believe you me on my T100 790cc, Toga Classic silencers are the real deal in authentic looks , sound and of far superior quality than anything that the Meriden triumphs ever came with.
Get em. You'll love em they are the real British Bulldog of mufflers.

As already mentioned the N.H. Togas or Classics are of very high quality and sound as close to 60s Triumphs as I think is possible, and they are packed with stainless steel wool instead of fiberglass for long life. They are made for your bike and do not require adapter pipes to fit them and are heavier and have better chrome than the Emgo or Sprint mufflers that use the adapter pipes to fit them to the new Bonnevilles. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the Emgo or Sprint mufflers but if you can afford the Norman Hydes you will be impressed. In my opinion they look much better on the bike than the TORs or the stock mufflers. They look like 60s Triumph mufflers, the TORs or stock mufflers actually look more like BSA mufflers. One other thing to mention is that the Togas sound deeper and more mellow than the Emgos/Sprints which are louder and raspier for lack of a better word. The Togas are however louder than the TORs but they are not too loud by any means. The Togas also do not flare out from the sides of the bike as much as the Emgos or Sprints and that is simply because they are specifically made for the Bonnevilles.
If you buy the N.H. Togas or Classics as I think they are listed at NewBonneville.com you will want to plug the small hole in the tailpipe with a very small tapered head machine screw and nut. If the hole that is used to mount the optional baffles is left open you will hear a slight "swishing" sound at idle. It annoyed me so I plugged it but it's not a big issue.

Why doesn't one of the moderators compile the general advice about the various silencers, and create a sticky entitled, "all about silencers" or something? This is a constant question, with good reason - anybody looking to mod will be looking at the silencers first, and though the knowledge here is very high, the wisdom gets buried several pages back very quickly.
An article that lists at the top all the common choices, and then goes through one by one and describes what each is good for, what each is bad for, etc. would be really useful to help people with these questions, and it would save people from having to constantly ask over again.
