As you can see, Bradford, everyone has different taste in helmets. As long as you go with a brand name, DOT approved helmet you're on the right track. Aside from that just try on several different styles and brands until you find one that fits you well. Remember, size can be adjusted somewhat by changes to the padding, so don't settle unless everything is just right.

I didn't think about all this when I bought my helmet. I just finished signing the paperwork on my bike and the helmet was an afterthought. I bought the first helmet I tried on (an HJC CS-5) and I've hated it ever since. But being the frugal guy I am I'm forcing myself to live with it for a while.

Learn from my mistake, my son.

Arai Profile, mat black. You can't go wrong with that one, on any bike, and it's top of the line protection.

I've had my eye on one of the nolan n30's for an open face. I just can't find anywhere to try them on. I have a RF 1000 that I like. Fits great.

I just picked up a pair of HJC CL15s for myself and my wife. I used to ride with a Shoei RF200 many years ago and figured I'd just pick up the new RF series.

After collecting my jaw from the floor when seeing the price, I figured I would look into HJC as I'd heard good things. I struck a deal with a seller on eBay for two CL15s plus two smoked antifog shields for $252 shipped. Got 'em the other day and almost feel guilty that I got that nice of a helmet for that little money.... :lgh: If anyone wants contact info, let me know and I'll pass it along - seller was a good guy to do business with.

I came pretty close to going the traditional Davida/goggles route and still love the look, but decided to go safety uber alles.

My $0.02...

$350

Relatively light, good ventilation, swap face shields out easily. Mind has the tinted shield...that was an extra $70. Love it!

I have a new Caberg Justissimo GT. I love it, it's comfy, washable liner, decent ventilation and not bad for noise. The best thing about it is the integrated sun visor, move a lever and instant sunglasses! No more stopping...

It has a quick release but I like the old D ring style better, not a big deal. Got it on ebay for roughly $300 CDN and it's a modular too which is a big plus. If I want a drink or a smoke I don't have to take off my helmet anymore. It's full face but the modular part comes off so it can be like an open face jet helmet too if that's your preference.

My old one was an Arai Quantum X which was nice too but I used to get this annoying breeze up into my eyes from underneath. Arai is pricey and for your money there are a lot of good options out there nowadays.

Scorpion 400 full face in the Blue Geronimo pattern. No fog photo chromatic face shield. It stays pretty cool in the Houston Summer and doesn't fog up in the humid mornings.
