british customs have a 180 kit, but it's way overpriced and you have to offset the rear wheel. Not the best idea for handling...

Any rim shop should be able to relace it with a wider rim for a lot less than british customs charges, and I think you can use up to a 170 without offsetting the wheel.

You might contact Buchanan's spoke and wheel for a price.

I put a Kenda 150/70/17 on my stock rim. $65.00 from J&P. Looks good, rides well

anyone bite the bullet and actually buy the BC wide wheel kit? didnt know they were offset. hmm. they say on their website that its a direct bolt-on. what's the widest we can go w/o changing out the rear wheel?

i would think more rubber on the road would mean better handling, but dont know if the bike was engineered with these add-ons in mind. it does make a nice visual impact, though. just my .02.

Coming off bikes that run 190s and dropping to a 180 there is a notable different in how quick they turn at speed - then stepping on to the bonnie with a cheescutter you really notice how quick it tips in.
I reckon a 180 would look phat on a bonnie and certainly thought of it as purely cosmetic - but I reckon you could sacrifice some of the agility without upsetting the overall handling - It tips in a lot quicker than it really needs too just require a bit of adjustment to riding style initially

Interesting pics. Not sure his tape measure is showing its width right though. I`m not sure, but measured that way,my stock rim is 4-1/2 and my "4-1/2"" Dymag is nearly 6". Isn`t rim width from inside flange to flange?? :???:
